A table was booked 2 weeks back for a friends birthday with plan for inside dining. We were there on time but the server said it’s first come first served. We were seated in the outside area with loud noise from a blower. We requested to be seated inside once a table opened. We were told that we would be served inside. Our food was brought to the outside area. The vegetable lasagna was not up to mark and we told the server. We were charged the full price. My friends were equally disappointed with this experience.

When my stepbrother and his wife arrived for a three day visit they mentioned that it would be her birthday while they stayed with my wife and I. As residents of Lawrenceville, having a birthday dinner at Vidalia was an automatic choice. Our Restaurant Week special prix fixe menu was delightful, delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The tall candle on the Tiramisu was delightful. My only quibble is that the main dinning room can be quite noisy, making conversation difficult.

They sat us at a table for 2 next to a wall that was high traffic. I felt cloister phobic. The table was small and could not accommodate 2 waters, bread plates, 2 menus, a wine bottle and wine glasses. They moved us to another table. Same size, less cloister phobic but Not anymore comfortable. I asked the hostess if we could sit at a bigger table. She said their policy is to sit 2 people at the small tables. Yikes!I ordered the rigatoni with prosciutto and chicken. The food came out lukewarm, like it’s been sitting. The pasta and chicken were overcooked. The prosciutto was like chewing on cardboard and the dish was extremely flavorless. Very bland.I wrote this honest review before we left. At the end, the waitress collects our money and mentions that she was sorry we were unhappy and mentions the review. Really?? She never asked me how was my meal. To say you’re sorry and do nothing about it means you’re not really sorry at all. Sad. Not worth the money. Will never come back.Btw, the bigger tables on either side of us were empty the entire time.Reply:I agree. The waitress is confused. She NEVER asked me how my meal was. She asked my friend. Not me. I barely touched my meal.

Food was good, but it was unbearably hot and loud in the restaurant. Very hard to move around too many tables in one location. Even waiters were having a very hard time moving in between tables when patrons needed to stand up or use the restroom.

The food is good, but not worth the premium price. The service was excellent, but the dining room is so small, crowded and NOISY, that I thought I was in Manhattan. Conversation was a challenge. Not sure I would go back, certainly not on a Saturday night.

Vidalia Restaurant in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is a pleasant Italian bistro with a fine selection of seafood, chicken, veal, soups and salads. Like its namesake, many of the dishes feature Vidalia onions, such as the caramelized onion stuffed with fennel sausage and roasted red peppers, topped with melted mozzarella cheese (although very tempted, I decided to save that dish for another day, perhaps). Our party arrived for a late, 8 p.m. dinner. The dining room was completely filled, which makes reservations a must. Although the place was filled, the acoustics were such that we didn’t have to shout over each other to be heard. Unbeknownst to me, the place is a BYOB establishment. Fortunately our friends were prepared with a bottle of red and a bottle of white, as Billy Joel so famously sang.I ordered the cipolla vidalia for a starter. The naturally sweet Vidalia onion soup included crostini bread croutons and melted cheese blend. There wasn’t much bread in the soup (which was fine with me), but there was plenty of onions and cheese. TThe soup was fantastic, the temperature perfect, which allowed me to savor every spoonful without burning my tongue and mouth.Another starter, the Insalata di Caesar was also good, with crisp romaine lettuce mixed with foccacia crostini and shavings of parmesan tossed with homemade caesar dressing. The salad was light and perfect for whetting the appetite. The Vitello Saltimbocca was exquisite, topped with prosciutto and sage, and smothered in mozzarella, with fresh sage and a creamy white wine sauce, along with a side of sautéed spinach. The sweetness of the wine didn’t quite balance the saltiness of the prosciutto, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my meal, and left me satisfied. The Pasta Genovese, served with penne pasta prepared with peas, oyster mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and asparagus in a garlic mascarpone cream sauce, was fine. The pasta was served al dente, but the sauce was a bit bland, despite the garlic.Overall, it was a nice dinner with friendly service. The restaurant was clean and inviting. One will not leave hungry, as we decided to forego dessert. This is a perfect venue for date night!

I had the Tuna hoagie and it was great. Our server was terrific, always there when we needed him, refilled our water glasses frequently, and was always smiling. This is my "go to" place when in that area, whether my group is 3 or 15. The outdoor, heated patio is perfect for larger groups.

We have been before and absolutely loved it! This time however we were not only not impressed but disappointed. Service was a challenge and we were sat next to a large group that was so loud we couldn't hear our own conversation and were continually getting bumped into. They finally moved us however it was as if they forgot to tell our server and we waited more than 20 min to place our order. Not in a rush to go back but haven't written them off for good.

So delicious and great service! Mary was our waitress and she recommended the scallops and chicken fico and they were both delicious! The ambiance is warm and cozy. We are definitely going back again!

This was the perfect choice for 8 of us to celebrate 2 birthdays in the family. It is a lovely intimate restaurant. The food was fabulous and the garlic bread was delicious. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. Being BYOB allowed us to be festive and still keep the cost reasonable. 2 thumbs up to Vidalia's!

Went for Valentine's Day the evening after, and ambiance was still very festive. Our server Joe was incredibly pleasant and attentive, despite being very busy. The garlic bread tided us over while waiting to order. We opted for caesar salads (entree size but easy to finish as a starter) and pasta fagioli soup to start (a bit non-traditional but still good). The Valentine's menu looked good but we ordered off the regular menu - chicken marsala and chicken al fico (with figs and mushrooms) - both delicious, delivered piping hot. Have been to Vidalia on many occasions, and I can't remember ever being disappointed.

This is the first time I've ever been to Vidalia and look forward to returning! The service was great! The food was phenomenal! The ambiance was more than accommodating! I just had a great time! I was actually looking at the regular menu even though I was there for the fixed menu for Valentine's Day. I also enjoy supporting smaller businesses and I'm very happy I was able to support this one. Thank you very much Vidalia! I will be back!

Vidalia never disappoints! What I love about Vidalia is that the menu is unique, unlike other restaurants in the area; their specials and regular menu options are fresh and seasonal.
