We had Omakase & ordered off the menu. The Sushi Sashimi dinner is excellent. The Omakase selections were delicious.

Wow!!! Family dinner of Chef Kevin Kim's omokase menu was by far the BEST we have ever experienced. Each and every piece created was a work of art with a burst of unique flavor from each and every mouthwatering morsel. It was like watching a master of magic and artistry at work as Chef Kim prepared each delicacy with expert care and creativity. To enhance our experience, Chef Kim entertained us not only during but after our omokase extravaganza with such warm-hearted hospitality and even created a special “birthday” hand roll for my sister. The manager also comp'd our mochi desserts which melted in our mouths. Hands down to Chef Kim and staff for gracing our family with a truly memorable and 4-star experience which is w shall never forget. In fact, we are already making plans to return in Dec to relive Chef Kim's Michelin star-worthy omokase and royal carpet treatment. From one very satisfied family, we are now loyal customers of Shumi!!!

I have been to Shumi multiple times and think their sushi is as good as I have had in the USA. The entire dining experience is excellent and I particularly like the omakase in the private dining room. I will be back.

Shumi is our favorite restaurant in the Fort Lee area. We regularly go to the city for dining. However , Shumi is a singular Japanese experience in the artistry of he dishes, and inventive sushi creations. My husband and I love sitting at the counter to watch the passion and expertise of all the sushi chefs. I might also add the ambience is modern and very tasteful .

Let me start by saying that we love this restaurant and have dined here many times for dinner. The food is consistently excellent, and we usually leave feeling satisfied and impressed. However, our experience last night didn't quite live up to the usual standards. We opted for the omakase dinner, which unfortunately felt awkwardly stretched out. The first appetizers took quite a while to arrive, and the following three omakase plates came with long gaps—about 15 minutes between each. The final omakase plate was dropped off at our table without any explanation of what was being served, and just a minute later, our last course (ramen) was brought out. The pacing felt rushed at the end but too slow at the start, and the entire meal took over two hours, which is much longer than our typical experience here. While the food itself was still amazing—as always—we left feeling a bit disappointed by the overall flow and service of the evening. We're hopeful this was just an off night and look forward to returning for the kind of experience we've come to love.

Overpriced and both owner chefs seem to have no pride in their work. Maybe fine for rolls but not for omakase.

The worst omakase I’ve ever had! I absolutely do not recommend this place!!!

Food was delicious and sushi was fresh, with some creative preparations. Skip the salmon teriyaki though if you dont like it well done. Recommend the Omakase.

Waste of money and time It's way too expensive and the servers have no idea of what they serve

The wait staff seems inexperienced and not too on the ball. We had 6 in the party all ordering the same thing. They would bring 5 dishes and then we had to remind them they forgot the 6th. There were long waits between dishes. I had to ask for water multiple times. The server would bring a dish and not pay attention to our gestures or requests. Unlike other omakase experiences, the servers did not provide any description of the fishes being served. At certain points in the evening while the dining room was full, not a single wait staff was on the floor and no one was behind the sushi counter. It was a bit unreal. When both the master chefs were on deck, I find it incredible that neither was keeping an eye on whether customers were requiring service. Towards the end of the evening, the chef came out to say hi to customers and he only spent time at two tables. That seems a bit half hearted. I wanted to say the food is great and forgive the rest. At the price point however, this lack of attention is quite unacceptable. I hope they can improve

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 for 1 Omakase dinner at Shumi Leonia. Each offering of sushi was delicious. Plenty of food and we were stuffed. Beautiful restaurant and ambiance. You have a choice to dine at the counter and watch the chef prepare each piece and converse with him or a sit at a table for a nice quiet dinner.. On the street parking wasn't a problem and there's an H-mart and other stores nearby Easy to get there from the NJ Turnpike (Leonia exit 70A)..

I've previously been to their Ridgewood location, which was great. It was a busy night due to their 39 year aniversary promotion. Food was good, interior looked good, much brighter than the other location. We ordered omakase from a table and were mostly satisfied with the food except that the portion was quite small even with 5 appetizers and 21 pieces of sushi(their sushi was overall very small, which I knew but somewhat felt even smaller than I remember from the previous experience). Problem was the service. I knew it was kind of busy, but the service staffs were not their at all other than when they bring food and took the empty dishes/bowls. I came a little later than the other people in the group and I din't even have a glass of water for over 20 minutes until I finally asked for one. Then, I brought a bottle of wine that came in a ice bucket and that was it. No one was attentive, we poured the wine ourselves after waiting for 20 minutes or so. My water glass was empty for a while, which was never filled until I finally asked at the end of our meal twice to two different servers. They really need to work on their service especially on busier days.
