Be aware that Mamma Rosa is CASH ONLY.Sorry for the single star. Wish there was a way to leave to comment without a rating (positive or negative).Attempted to eat here yesterday but at turn back at the door because we didn't have cash. Can't honestly review the food or service. We still plan on coming back and giving them a try.

Me and my sister decided to come randomly to try your Alfredo pasta. My sister had the shrimp Alfredo and loved it. I decided to get chicken, shrimp, and crab meat. OH MY GOD when I tell you the crab mean was so big in my Alfredo it was unbelievable. The food was amazing the bread was amazing. This had to be one of the best Alfredo pasta dishes I've had. The pricing was worth every bit.

Incredible food. Incredible service. The owner was absolutely wonderful he took time to introduce himself and check on us often. We felt like family as soon as we walked in the door.

What a treasure this place is. My wife and I went for dinner Saturday night and we were thoroughly blown away. Food, service, and ambiance all 10/10.The menu is not the typical “Italian Restaurant” roll call but the standards are still there. My wife went for her favorite, the Eggplant Parmigiana, and I was lulled into choosing a special, the Dover Sole. We were set-up with a plate of delicious grilled bread brushed with oil and garlic. My dining partner said her Eggplant Parm was, “the best she’s ever had”. This is pretty heady stuff as that’s her all-time favorite food of all. I needed to corroborate this so I sampled the dish. The Eggplant Parm was unexpectedly and delightfully “light”. It wasn’t the trite old heavy, densely breaded fare. This was something different. It was evident that this Eggplant Parm was made to order and not an assembly of pre-made parts. It came paired with a generous side of Gemelli with a beautifully prepared tomato sauce. This was also more than the sum of its parts and worthy of center stage itself. My dinner, the Dover Sole special, was an absolute, hands down winner. To say the fish was handled masterfully would be an understatement. The Sole was prepared grilled. Now for those of you who know Dover Sole you might think that odd. I did. I’ve never been the recipient of this specialty. Knowing how delicate the fish is I wasn’t sure this was an option. I was as floored when my host gave me a peek at the whole grilled fish before dispatching it. It arrived beautifully cleaned, fully de-boned, and dressed with just the right olive oil and lemon. The accompanying vegetables were again, well thought out and carefully prepared. Squash, baby bliss potato and asparagus were in great balance with the Sole. The check was pleasingly reasonable and my wife and I vowed to return again, and SOON !!!Parking: Plenty of on site free parking.

When ordering takeout, make sure everything you order is on the menu. I finished my takeout order with pizza, and the owner abruptly barked ‘We don’t sell pizza; you are calling the wrong restaurant…’ and then slammed the phone down.

This place is the single greatest Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I was going through reviews before I posted this one and I feel there are a few things worth mentioning.First, this restaurant is very small. It was a house where they converted the first floor to be both the kitchen and dining area. Due to the size they do not take reservations and there is only one table available for parties of more than 4 people. You may have a long wait, I assure you that it is worth it.Second, regarding the service here, I see many people discussing slow service. This restaurant is run by one family. The father is the cook and the mother is typically the waitress, though sometimes their son has also served us. Everything is made to order so there are often times where nobody is in the dining area because they are helping in the kitchen. Their operation isn't large enough where they can hire a bunch of servers to just stand in the dining area doing nothing.Despite the above, I have never had an issue with the service. Everyone is kind and attentive when they are not helping in the kitchen. The atmosphere is also lovely, you feel like you've been transported to a small village in Italy when you walk through the doors.Restaurant is cash only and menu is small, though they do always offer a wide variety of daily specials.Parking: There are only about five spots in the lot and it is very tight.Kid-friendliness: They do offer kid portioned meals.Wheelchair accessibility: There is one handicapped spot in the parking lot and the restaurant has a ramp.

We found this place last second since our original plans changed and live avour 40 midway. We are so glad it did change and we have a new favorite Italian restaurant. It's a small but homey place, cash only (ATM inside) and byob, but that takes away from it. Appetizer we got the burrata as the nights special (slice of bell pepper roasted, a cheese like mozzarella and bruschoto and seasonings). Traditionally it's served cold, bet here it's served warm, and the taste was the best I ever had. Dinner I got the nights special lentils with sausage and toasted garlic bread, wife got nights special lobster ravioli and kids got spaghetti with meatballs and the other chicken fettuccine Alfredo. This was one of the best meals we ever had. When no one complains, loves their meals and eats everything on their plate, that's a huge win that happens only a couple times a lifetime. The owner and chef, Luigi, came out and conversated with us and was very nice, as was the waiter that helped. I was pleasantly surprised when the check came out, much less than what i was expecting. We will be back, definitely worth the drive.

I get to eat Luigi's cooking and bask in Donna's constant smile once a year when I venture down to South Jersey to golf and dine with the Slonis family. I live in NYC and am spoiled by the great restaurants but Mamma Rosa rivals anything from Rao's to Felini Scadelli. It is a dining experience. Once should not go there for a "bite" before a movie or event. Mamma Rosa IS the event. I had the veal parm just because I am in search of the perfectly prepared one. Luigi's rivaled literally everything. The octopus. The sausage. The pastas. The deserts. Each wonderful. The intimacy of the place adds to the experience. It was a European dining event. Then I picked up the bill and was embarrassed. What would have been, easily, a $700 bill in NYC (which I would have paid gladly) was $286!! Please don't tell too many people about Mamma Rosa because I want to always be able to get in for the food, the ambiance and the beautiful service that is provide.Michael B. KramerNew York City
