We were there on Easter Sunday. Amazing service, food was prepared to perfection. My hubby and i had NY sirloin and I had filet mignon, they just melted in your mouth. My sister had halibut also excellent. staff very attentive. we had reservations with a slight issue I couldn't climb the steps but within 10 minutes another table was found for us. The best steaks ever and we have eaten in several steakhouses. Nothing compares to Rare. Looking forward to eating their again when it isn't a holiday. If a holiday meal is first class it could only be even more sublime on the next visit. Looking forward to my next meal soon. Dr P

Place was very busy for a Monday which is a good sign. Everything was delicious. Skirt steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Sides were very tasty. The star of the show was the pistachio martini, so good!! So many drink options that I will have to come back and try.

I wanted so badly to enjoy this restaurant. It's nice inside and the service is great. The huge issue is the pricing and quality of the meal. We went this past Saturday and I'll admit I like my streak on the medium side not super bloody. My partner likes it a bit rarer. Both came pretty much cooked exactly the same and raw in the middle, I'm talking black n blue style. The sides and apps were okay but the pricing is outrageous for what you get. Our meal was close to 300$ and I don't think it was worth that at all.

I took my wife and two kids, they weren’t impressed and my steak felt like a piece of rubber. For the price we paid I can think of at least 10 steak houses near buy that are way better than this place. Way way better. Really disappointed

I have been visiting Rare for about 15 years now and in almost every way, this is an outstanding restaurant, and not only for steak lovers. For many years, the Manager was Steve and he was excellent and making one's family or other guests at home. He was a truly spectacular Manager. Sadly he has left and there is a new Manager named Jan. But the restaurant remains excellent, the food spectacular and the employees dedicated. I am always surprised when I read another diner write a review that starts with "Horrible". It is hard to believe we are in the same restaurant. I can say with certainty that Rare the Steak House deserves the adjective spectacular. [Some of the information on their Open Table information is dated: Gov. Murphy no longer restricts dining activities for one. Perhaps they can update.]

Great food, very attentive staff and service, upstairs seating is a lot more quiet and relaxed than downstairs. Booked a table for 6 people for a friend's birthday and everyone was left extremely satisfied. Great job by the staff. Excellent food and ambiance. Definitely recommend.

There's not much to say. The place is awesome. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have everything as you requested. The steaks are out of this world.

We went for valentine's day and I still cant stop thinking about how amazing the food was. Can't wait to go back! The thick cut bacon for an app was amazing, the Porterhouse Steak for 2 was phenomenal and the service was great. Best

Excellent service and great food. The bartenders are amazing. Big shout out to José and Lisa. The new manager is outstanding—our reservation was ready when we arrived, and we were seated right away.

Food, service and ambiance consistently exceeds expectations, whether dining on the weekend or a weeknight. Filet mignon perfectly seared, and their excellent creamed spinach has exceeded what I've experienced from NYC steakhouses. The waiters and staff are well-trained, professional and friendly. Will continue to dine at this local winner. ??

I took a group of food service professionals here for a client dinner. At least 100yrs experience between the five of us at the table. We are a discerning group of customers. For the five of us, 2 bottles of wine, five appetizers, 6 sides, 5 entrees and desserts, 1000$. Not inexpensive. For a $200 avg per person price, the food should be excellent. Our experience was not what the price and atmosphere of the establishment suggested the outcome of our dinner would be.Desserts were good, appetizers were just ok, service was pretty good, sides were not good (were those Brussels sprouts from a steam table? And asparagus gratin??? Cooked asparagus with a little melted cheese and bread crumb, a stretch to call it a gratin). But the biggest offender and my reason for posting this, the “prime” steaks. The cook temp on the steaks was pretty good, but holy cow were they tough. For a “prime” steak to be that unenjoyable at that price point was really disappointing. If it was just me? Not a big deal. But all the folks that ordered steak at our table all complained that they had an issue with their entree.Overall, very disappointed

The location, a corner spot with parking, was charming. You can feel warmth and community from the first steps. The service was excellent from valet through service. The steak options were good as well as the traditional steak house sides. The steak was okay. I found the quality to be below my expectations for a steakhouse as I and my partner had many parts of the prime rib that we found could not be chewed. The cook was perfect and overall it was a nice place. I may go back but not for the steak.

Ladies at our table said they were too cold. For a pricey dining restaurant, a little more enforcement of a dress code. (At the next table, was a hat on backwards, open flannel shirt guy )
