Ordered over the phone for pickup. The lady that answered the phone was not courteous. After the indicated, we went to pick up the order, and the same lady was not nice and was upset with something or someone or us for getting there before the order was ready. At least if the food was good, we would find a reason to recommend the place.Maybe it was a bad day for her, but the customers aren't scapegoats.
A small mom and pop restaurant run by a Japanese couple. It was the quintessential shishi restaurant experience the minute we walked in: the faint, soothing Japanese classical music, the decor, and the razor sharp focused master chef working at the counter. My favorite dish of the meal was chirasi bowl, fresh and artfully presented. Hiro Shushi is probably one of the best shishi places in Jersey. I'll definitely come back.
Our favorite local spot, amazing quality, taste and flavor. We love coming here when we crave sushi and that is often! Can't say enough good things about Hiro Sushi, as long as we live in the area we will always choose them!
A rare find, small place but absolutely delicious sushi. Fresh made with such care, by far the best I've ever had. Lucky find
I am lucky to travel around the world for living and was able to try Japanese restaurants pretty much everywhere. This place doesn't get any closer to what you could find in Shinjuku (Tokyo) not only in terms of food but atmosphere.
Sriracha on the spicy tuna was too overwhelming. It's not hot per say but the flavor is off. Just average overall sushi. Better places in Rutherford area.
The food was great! We had sushi and soup. Small place but atmosphere is very soothing. The lady wasn’t too friendly and asked if we had reservations but she still accommodated us. I will come back again but I hope I can see smiles this time.
I had high hopes and wanted to love this place. The lady is not friendly, at all. - the sushi is all rice- where's the beef? Like Wendy's commercial- where's the sushi? My husband and I ate rice and some flavor on top. I am not a person who needs much and never rights reviews! Save your money and go somewhere else- sorry not so sorry. I have no idea how this place is still in business. Sincerely a sushi lover.
Our usual sushi favorites are nizi and yellowtail In Rutherford. My wife came across this place one day while getting her nails done next to it and thought it looked nice so she suggested we try it. From the moment we walked in the server was unbearably rude and unfriendly. No hello or greeting, she did notice we brought a bottle of wine and walked by to drop an opener on the table still without saying a word. My wife and I joked that most likely the food would make up for the awful service since it had a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately we ordered four different rolls and they all seemed to be mostly rice and sauces with no fish. We had honestly felt like we had been scammed. Upon leaving we stopped at our favorite pizza place for two slices since we were both still hungry from eating this imitation sushi. I normally don’t write bad reviews but hope I can save someone else from a horrible experience.
An awesome no frills Japanese sushi restaurant. The sushi was good no where near the best I ever had but the friendly staff and atmosphere more than made up for it. Unfortunately I was hoping for a good beer or sake menu but for now at least it’s BYOB. Portion sizes were good. What really won me over was the feeling of being at a family gathering.

Fish was fresh, very cozy environment.
Pretty good. I understand how other people have complained about the service. Our server seemed to not really want to be serving. I didn't need much, she didn't do much, we got along fine.
Best sushi in Lyndhurst! Can't wait to go back again!
I've been to this restaurant many times, not since the outbreak. Used to love the food here. I'm glad it's still open. But this time really disappointed, will not come again. The food was not fresh at all. I had diarrhea after eating it, and so did my family. Then the fever started. The chef didn't wear a mask or gloves at all. The waiter didn't wear gloves! No hand sanitizer. even found a camera in the bathroom. It's terrible.
Best and only Authentic Sushi found in this area so happy to find them. Ika shiso maki is amazing!
