Ryan's BBQ Reviews
Small place ran by a lovely couple with all the signature classic Romanian dishes!
This place is a complete hidden gem! The eggplant salad starter is just like my grandmother and mother make, the meats are excellent - portion sizes are huge and everything tastes like a solid Romanian place on my visits to Romania.
The star today was the Papanasi - a classic Romanian cheese donut! One of the best I had ever!
Highly recommended! Will definitely come again!
Friendly staff, delicious food and great atmosphere. Thank you! 😊
Lol I have Romanian family members, we decided to try this place that we just found online. We were so excited to visit a Romanian place local in NJ!!!
It’s a small place with only a couple tables.
We had to wait 15 minutes for the other customers to leave before we could sit down.
My family members ordered several Romanian dishes, two looked similar to the ones that I remember being made by my family.
I sort of liked it I guess, it wasn’t anything special just...read full review

Ryan's BBQ offers a mix of Romanian and Central European cuisine with some American-style items on their menu. The fried Asiago cheese appetizer may lack flavor, but the beef brisket sandwich is good with a slightly sweet sauce. The cheesesteak sandwich has a unique cucumber wasabi sauce that might not be for everyone. The combo meal with ribs and kielbasa is juicy and delicious, though the chicken can be dry. The potato salad is a bit acidic but pairs well with the ribs and kielbasa. The seasoned fries are crispy and tasty.
Customers praise the passionate chef and the generous portions. This is a very small Romanian family-owned restaurant, offering a quick bite to eat. The owner/chef makes recommendations off the menu, and the stuffed cabbage is fabulous. The meatball soup, Romanian kebab (mititie), and grilled fish (brezino) are all delicious, with the babaganush having an authentic charcoal eggplant flavor. The sausages are also amazing. While some dishes may have room for improvement, Ryan's BBQ offers decent prices and filling meals in a cozy, homely atmosphere.
