First time here, since it was re-done. Huge difference! The place looks great. Spacious dining areas & really big bar area. There was an area for private parties. The bathroom was even clean. We didn't order much to eat, but the cheesesteak egg rolls were very good. It was typical cheesesteak meat, but still very yummy. Went for happy hour(s) & they had a lot to offer. Sat at the bar & service was very good, but we were there early. I look forward to going back & trying more food.

I ordered a pick-up yesterday and unfortunately one of the items was missing from my bag. Mistakes can happen, and I completely understand that. However, what really disappointed me was the way the situation was handled.

When I called, the first employee realized the mistake but instead of apologizing or offering a solution, she put me on hold. Then the manager came on the line and asked me to explain the issue again. When I asked, “Didn’t your colleague already tell you?”, he admitted yes, there was an item missing — yet still no one thought to simply start with “Sorry about that.”

In the service industry, an apology is the minimum gesture a customer deserves. Instead, I was told vaguely about a refund or gift card. Not only did no one actually apologize, but the refund they promised was never processed at all. It almost felt like I would have to beg to get my money back for their mistake.

It’s not about the money, it’s about respect and professionalism. A simple apology would have been enough to turn this around, but unfortunately, that never came.

Pros: Very nice ambiance. The staff is friendly. The outside seating looks great, a stone patio. Plenty of parking. Nice. My first thought was “this has lots of potential”. And the menu looks good, too. It was busy in a Wednesday night. That’s normally a good sign. And yet there seemed to be plenty of staff.
The bar looked good. Lots of TVs. Cool.

Cons: We ordered burgers. Difficult to tell whether they were good because the potato buns they were served with completely overwhelmed the burgers. Sugges trying another bun, maybe it’s better. The tater tots were good as were the truffle fries.
Will definitely go back and give it another try.
Cheers.

I have to say we were very very disappointed as a group in the Olde Silver Tavern and will never be back, and will warn people off when possible. First off we waited more than an hour for our food. No exaggeration. From the moment we ordered, to the moment it was finally delivered ( and after several questions on why so long) was over an hour. Also the restaurant had a group there that had many small children with them that were running around screaming and yelling. The parents had sat the children all together down at one end of this very long tables put together, and they all sat at the other end partying, and just ignored any of their behavior. No parent intervention or control at all. We asked the maître d couple of times if they could say something to the group about putting some controls over their children. They ignored our requests. We were not the only table unhappy about the situation with that group. Finally given the restaurant wouldn't say anything and we could not even have a conversation without loud screeches and yelling from the other table interfering with our night out (and the children getting up and running around like it was a playground), we said something to them. And of course they got up from their table and came at us looking for a physical fight. Needless to say fireworks ensued. Finally when our bill came they had added a 20% gratuity to our bill themselves as part of the bill. Now tipping is a standard practice, and 20% is standard, but when service is terrible, and the evening is ruined, and the facility and its people are at least partly the cause, why would we be forced to tip 20%. Which is what you would leave if you get GOOD service. Its not some law. Needless to say we won't be going back or recommending this place to anyone for a nice relaxing enjoyable evening out.

Accommodating to the kids in our party however, the food was underwhelming and bland. The cauliflower app had good flavor but was mush inside. French onion soup, Caesar salad and a pulled pork sandwich all lacked flavor. One of our desserts in a jar came out bad and smelled like sour milk. There aren’t many restaurants in this area and we were very disappointed.

A gratuitous THANK YOU to all who were involved in my birthday celebration party on September 18. From Danielle and Vanessa in planning, to the managers Chris and Lawrence and finally the
servers Janet, Taylor, and Christian ……
the party ran smoothly and was a success. All were pleasant, worked well with the party planners and my guests. The lunch was plentiful, delicious and the service was extraordinary.
Kudos to Old Silver Tavern and all involved!
Note: I’m an ‘old, long-time Manalapan person and have enjoyed the history and now re-birth of OST!

The worst I ever ate , steamed clams in white sauce was dish water, order a $30.00 wagu hamburger came out burnt ,with a harden roll which was probably microwave, I ordered medium, burger my grandson’s ordered the tavern burger $10. Cheaper also came out burnt however the American cheese was not melted which means he put it on top to late or the cheese burger would have been too far gone, so it was a conscious decision to send it out to the customer, the manager was a young girl who had no idea what I was talking about on cooking wagu burgers 6 or 8 oz wagu are never well done, 2 minutes each side and you’re good, my opinion put less choices on your menu but cook them great, and you may last 7 years if not it will be a parking lot again until someone who knows how to cook takes it over

Came here with a big group (over 20 people) after a baseball game and at first things looked really promising. The place is decorated nicely, has plenty of parking, and they were able to seat us in about 20 minutes (kids at one table, adults split across two). Definitely a good start and something I appreciated.

Service ended up being on the slower side though. It took about 25 minutes before our orders were taken, which wasn’t easy with a bunch of hungry kids. We even tried to make it easier by organizing the checks by the kids’ uniform numbers, but that seemed like a foreign concept, which was surprising since the tavern is literally a couple minutes from the town park where baseball, soccer, and football are always going on.

Food-wise, my prime rib sandwich was a letdown, pretty tasteless, which was disappointing. Overall, the place has potential with the vibe and setup, but the execution just didn’t match. Not sure if I’d come back, but hoping they can improve because it really does seem like it could be a great spot.
