giving it 4 stars bc i’m local and feel bad and don’t want a local place to close. but i am SO SAD about my experience tonight. I got sesame chicken and specified “NOT SPICY” and they even wrote it on my order! and let me tell you, i couldn’t even eat more than a bite. my mouth was immediately on fire. So i didn’t even get to eat my main food, all trash:( So I tried the egg drop soup that i ordered and it was also SO spicy i couldn’t tolerate more than one bite again!!! I spent $24 on a dinner for myself and ended up only eating white rice:( rest was trash

Ordered beef lo mein with no veggies. Came loaded with veggies. Chicken and broccoli. Chicken was rubbery. Rice was dry. Only decent thing was the wonton soup and even that wasn’t great. First time ordering, will definitely never order again. Extremely disappointed.

Ordered Saturday first night in ocnj and it was terrible, no taste, presentation and little specks in the food. Rice looked like it was from the bottom of a pan. Wonton soup okay, wouldn’t try it again. Probably should’ve read reviews first but there’s always a first try and a last try.

Only take out. But its the best. BRAVO!

Update 3/28/25 customer service sucks anymore sat on hold for almost 5 minutes, hung up called back.. what they have displayed on their own website menu (seafood udon) is not an option!! Then why have it on your actual website menu?!?!?! Guess Tokyo Mandarin in Marmora, NJ will get my business from now on

You just can’t eat in here .i was on lunch break and No one was in the restaurant and the lady wouldn’t let me eat in there . They have good specials but if you’re not local I wouldn’t take the drive .

Very upset never got the food. I ordered called three times for delivery and paid the delivery person seven dollar bill for one piece meal because he never got the rest of his food so this is disgusting and upsetting when I called four times I got no one on the phone. They’re blocking my calls who blocked your calls from restaurant now I’m scared need the rest of it for real. You wanna answer the phone something’s wrong Never been so upset. Haven’t ordered from here in a long time and ordered orange chicken. I am not sure what it was but it was soft and sponge like. It was so bad I couldn’t eat it. Also ordered (2) wonton soups and received rice soup and sweet and sour which were both gross. I’m so disappointed!

We have been going to Island Shore Restaurant since Billy Ho opened it. The food was always excellent, portions were always generous, and the service well above average. Since Chef Alen acquired it the quality remained the same until recently. The portions have been cut and the quality has nosed dived. Won't be going back.

After reading the bad reviews, I tried being gracious and ordered from this place anyway. This is by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Praying that I don’t contract E. coli after eating that pink meat. My egg roll tasted of wet cloth and corn in a garbage disposal. In all, the food here tastes like feet that washed up on shore. They also forgot my rice-not that I would eat it anyway. Do not order here.

The food has very healthy portions and the general TSO is the best I ever had. They are extremely quick for delivery and their eggrolls are dynamite. Their chicken and broccoli is fantastic. Very nice people and I will not order Chinese anywhere else.

Food is pretty decent, unfortunately you can rarely get through to order on the phone. The owner needs to be made aware of this

We haven’t ordered from this place since before the pandemic because we had a bad experience back then but we decided to give it another try after all these years. Wow what a surprise the food was delicious! Wonton soup was so good, egg rolls good We had chicken lo mein and chicken with veggies and both were delicious. Wish the dining room was back open. We will definitely order again.
