Here at old Chief Tavern sign says Covid testing. Listed online as open but no one here. About 20 cars came and left. Very poorly managed..I have a sick kid with high fever. Trying to schedule appointment at website listed and Medford location not even a choice all options over 1 hour away.

They never showed up for the appointment and didn't call to say they weren't opening?

Don’t go here you will wait forever. Says it opens at 10 and it’s such a lie.

Closing. In mid-November, 2014, Joe Cooney had an article in the Clourier-Post describing the retirement of the owner and the sale of the Indian Chief building, land and liquor license to the adjoining Shop-Rite grocery store. It was mentioned that the grocery store does not intend to keep the restaurant operating.

Kind of sketch[y], situated back from the road with a nondescript front. Visually and geographically it's an odd location, if you think about it, and that partially explains the very light sprinkling of cars in the lot and people at the bar. The Indian Chief. Larger than you might expect, but cozier also. It's a sparse, dim, muddy water kind of place. Not literally muddy water, but in appearance and colors. Drab, even. But there is an unexpectedly good array of beers available and the bartender working on a Friday was pretty genial. This is your low key, don't dress up or even wear a sweater or you will be overdressed dive. It's clean, void of obnoxious partiers, and plays an enjoyable selection of classic rock & mainstream metal.

From the outside, it's not much. Plain and simple. If you've never been inside, you are missing out. The bartenders are nice, the place is clean, the food is pretty darned good for basic bar food, and they have live music. It's right around the corner for me, so it's convenient for a glass o wine after work. Check it out if you haven't. It's rarely crowded, the patrons are quiet, and it's not filled with rowdy, drunk sports bar patrons. There are tons of tables in the bar area, and there is a separate dining room if you want a quiet dinner.

Growing up right down the street from the Chief, it always got a bad rep for being a dirty dive bar. Last year was the first time I stepped foot inside the place, even though I've lived in town for over 17 years now! To be honest it was nothing that I expected at all, it's actually a pretty clean place, offerring live music, DJs, and karaoke on Thursday nights. Typical bar food, I'm pretty sure the majority of the menu is fried, but great beer selections and tons of specials on game days with plenty of TVs to go around. There's also a larger room with a pool table too! Great spot if you want to shy away from the other two bars in town that all of your former classmates flock too.

The Chief is a special place. It looks scary from the outside... It is a bit of a dive in some ways inside. But I must say some of their signature bar food is really great. The tuna sandwich is pretty great, staff is friendly and warm, and for some reason they seem to have a nearing gourmet dessert menu (get le bomba!!!!!) Great bands, locals, and a reasonably priced good time. Its the best of what a dive bar should be.

Good prime rib special

There are only a few bars in Medford... two of them are chains were they are more interested in high priced drinks and girls with tight clothing... The Chief has very good drink prices, a very good menu, great NFL game specials with all games on TV. If you want Karaoke, DJ, Live Bands... come out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively....

This place is a dump, but if you are looking to get your drink on, be my guest. The food is your typical blue plate special

I always drove by this place and thought, "Wow, that place looks super sketchy." Then my friends started going there occasionally for drinks. The first time I joined them I was pleasantly surprised. The inside is not nearly as sketchy as the outside - that is to say, it's not sketchy at all. It's just a regular restaurant/bar, and there's pretty much only a half a dozen people in there at any time. There's a huge dance floor, and there's a DJ some nights who will take requests. It's perfect for a group that just wants to hang out and dance to their favorite tunes. I don't think I'd get anything more than fries to eat, but it's a great place to have in the area for drinking purposes.
