We visited this restaurant expecting a quality dining experience because the exterior and branding give the impression of a high-end Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, the actual experience was the complete opposite.
The service was the first red flag. The staff appeared uninterested and unwelcoming from the moment we sat down. No one came to check on us, ask if we needed water, or even provide basic utensils like forks and spoons. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet we still had to repeatedly look around just to get someone’s attention. It honestly felt like customers were an inconvenience rather than guests. The pricing is very high, but the portions do not match the cost.
Cleanliness was the most concerning part. The tables were not properly cleaned, the restroom was dirty, and overall hygiene did not match the “upscale” image the restaurant tries to present. When a restaurant looks elegant from outside but basic sanitation is lacking, it becomes uncomfortable to continue eating.

Moving from Virginia to New Jersey middle of last year and moving to Monroe TWP, we have been exploring restaurants especially South Asian ones. We discovered Mrs Kumar before it expanded and love the food. We visited Thumkaa which had its own vibes and while driving along 33E we kept passing Chozhas and decided we would visit on Valentine’s day for Dinner.
Clearly this restaurant does a booming business with its buffet and no difference on Valentines where an a la Carte menu was offered but there was such a crowd earlier that food and staff were exhausted. Fortunately we had Deepthi who despite being on her feet for hours made sure we were aware that the palak chat which was supposed to be out came back on the menu . Also giving us great advice on the quantity of food to order. She was excellent.
Now to the food which was “good”…but not anything special. The appetizes Palak Chat and Lasuni Jhinga Shrimp were better than the main course of dal fry, goat rogan ghosh (nice having bones but not much meat). Rice came with garlic naan and the rice keer was served too hot as they ran out for lunch and had to make fresh.
Now the decorations were really nicely laid out for Valentines and made it feel special.
As we were leaving it was crowded. Clearly this place has a following and we were told the weekend buffet is what everyone comes for.
We will try the buffet one weekend to see how the food is and hope that it really is exceptional and better than the a la carte.
Again staff were great given how hard they were working and kudos to Deepthi.

We went for Valentines Day. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Food took forever as they were short chefs. People actually left after waiting for food for over an hour. We did get our appetizers and one entree but after waiting another hour we cancelled the rest of our food (4 entrees). Wait staff was great considering everyone was mad. Owner should be ashamed of putting his people and his customers through that.
Very bad service. We were there today to celebrate Valentine’s Day together the friends and family and we have done reservations before going but when we reach at 7 , we have waited till 9 o’clock but no food was there on table. We left hungry and irritated. no one my opinion they should close the door for ever
Tried Buffet and we liked it.
Took over an hour to get any food. The food the came out in slow increments . We finished our whole meal before the last chicken dish came out. The food was also cold. The rice was not real basmati. Do not come here.

Our first visit on Dosa night and we were really disappointed, should have read the reviews before going. The food was not sufficient at buffet station, sambhar was stale, dosas were dripping oil, over phone they said they would have 7 varieties of dosas but had only plain, cheese and masala. One of the worst places I ever visited. Zero quality of food, the place was ill managed, on top of that they still charged 18% gratuity.
Please save your time and money, not at all worth.

Food was ok , only thing is they charge 18 percent mandatory tip on buffet which feels little on the higher side and more like ala carte which also normally recommend 15 percent

We are a frequent visitor to Chozhas and have always tried their Sunday buffet but for the first time I went to their Saturday buffet and was terrribly disappointed. They had bare minimum options firstly, it dint taste good and to top it all they did not want to refill the buffeI at 1.30 pm . I dint know there was a price difference between the Saturday and Sunday buffet. Looks like the Saturday buffet prices are about few$ less than Sunday but it’s unfair to have this level of service/taste difference between those 2 days just for that small $ difference in price. I am very disappointed. I really hope they improve the service. I am sure there are lot of folks like me who don’t mind paying extra $ to get some good taste of food.

We have been coming here off and on for dinner with friends and family. We like their food and service and everything is very tasty. Everytime we have a craving for South Indian food and we want a bit of an ambiance we invariably come here and it never disappoints.
Ok food. Service could be better. Also recommend to the owner to keep the place clean. Overall ok. Will visit again if in the area.
