Every time I visit this bakery. I order the whole wheat croissants and almond cake/pie deliciousness. I want to run to the counter and say who made this? My taste wants to have a meeting with the person who made all of this deliciousness. ? I love this place.
I love the pizza!! We get it every Saturday!! Delicious brownies!!
Loved their Irish soda breads, quiche and cakes. Sorry to see them close but enjoy your retirement!
Took a chance and ordered 36 cupcakes; half chocolate and half vanilla as it was close to the venue location where I was having my kids birthday party. It turned out to honestly be one of the best decisions I've made. The cupcakes were light, fluffy and moist. The buttercream which my kids usually don't care for was perfect with just enough sweetness that my kids loved it. I look forward to coming back with the family to try some of their deli menu items and other dessert options. I highly recommend this place.
Great pastries, however the last few times I've attempted to go, they've sadly been closed on days they're listed as open. Best to call ahead to check to see if they're open...
To all; the first test of a food store is go there early. At Shanahan's bakery, the shelves are empty in the morning. All the food, including the dough for all the breads and pastries are made that day. All is freshly baked and made. And it's not just a bakery. Breakfast options and lunch options are available all day. And don't get there late, the more popular items are gone before the close. During these times, it's got sit down space and the space is unique and rather cool. Check out the family photos on the wall, including Colm himself when he arrived in the states. The food is economical and I have taken friends and clients there who all go back and rave to their friends.
Great breakfast sandwiches and muffins. Also very good coffee drinks!
Went there for Easter Sunday pastry pick up. Much to my disappointment, they were out of a lot of stuff so I "settled" for a key lime pie. Wow. I have to say it was one of the best key lime pies I have ever had. Ever. It was amazing.
Delish bakery food with a great selection of pastries and dessert. I would recommend the cranberry almond chicken salad sandwich!
Great place to grab a bite to eat. Tasty sandwiches, soups and daily surprises. Don't forget to have dessert. Their baked good are not only yummy but they're beautifully decorated as well.

I was there this past Tues. The service was great ?. Upon leaving, as I was driving friends car a had no key(nor cell), friendly staff helped me.A wonderful man named Felix let me use his cell to get back to md.where my friend was.I believe in angels and he was one.Drove me all over. God is the best.
Amazing customer service and acknowledgement once you walk in which is unheard of in NJ!Pastries, soup & sandwiches and coffee were so good! The Italian bread with the mushroom soup was so good, I bought a loaf on the way out. Great portions, clean and inviting display cases. The decor was warm and simple! I was so happy to finally find a cute cafe to take my girls to lunch and a solo Saturday coffee for myself!
Family owned restaurant for over 50 years. Always nice staff. Owner Colm is the son of original family. Always freshly made food. Very competitive prices. Soups at lunch are great value. Tasty pizza dishes, fresh salads, sandwiches and great pastries. Also personalized cakes. A gem in the heart of Milltown.
