I dined here with friends and found the vegan experience very lacking, so I just want to flag some frustrations.
The current menu is configured to clearly label vegetarian and vegan dishes but doesn’t actually exercise it with consistency. The only vegan main, the grain bowl, was not listed as fitting my diet.
Apps and sides like the general tso’s cauliflower which uses a honey glaze removes an option for me and left me with pretzels only (albeit delicious!). The pommes frites sharing a fryer with meat were also a bummer.
I think for omnivores the service and food were pretty great though, I’d be more inclined to leave a 4 or 5 star if that was the diet I followed. I would also give kudos to our waitstaff for being clear about the options that were available.

I came here for a work dinner where we reserved a back room. There were about 30 of us and plenty of room. The food was good, though it did take quite some time to get it. However, that is most likely due to the large size of our group. In general though the servers were grey and brought drinks relatively fast.

Tabor Road Tavern is one of those rare places that gets everything right. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, rustic ambiance—high wooden beams, soft lighting, and a fireplace that gives the whole space a cozy, upscale lodge feel. It’s perfect for everything from a romantic date night to a special family gathering.
The service is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. Our server made great recommendations and kept everything flowing smoothly throughout the evening.
The food? Absolutely delicious. We started with the tuna tartare and sausage croquettes—both beautifully plated and packed with flavor. For the main course, I had the plum-glazed pork chop, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had—tender, juicy, and the sweet-savory glaze paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. We finished with warm doughnuts and the strawberry shortcake with basil ice cream—just wow!
The drink menu is just as impressive, with a wide range of creative cocktails, craft beers, and a thoughtful wine list.
Tabor Road Tavern is a little more upscale, but worth every penny for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend this spot if you're in Morris County!

I have reviewed and loved the sister restaurant next door: Grato. Now it is time to come back to Tabor Road Tavern. This is a beautiful restaurant with a warm inviting interior design. The staff are helpful and courteous. The food is the standout, however. My tuna tartar was fresh and clean tasting punctuated with wasabi cream sauce. Perfect appy. My main was the short rib, very tasty. Desserts were outstanding.
You need to go here soon. I’ll be at the next table.
