I have always recommended Mehndi to anyone who is looking for great North Indian cuisine, and we frequent it ourselves. However last night was a different experience. Even though it was not that crowded, the service was poor. We found the food spicier than usual and the quantities much lesser. Maybe food prices have gone up - and therefore so had our bill. We had to keep asking someone to refill our water glasses. They were not attentive enough and forgot to bring us sweet chutney when we asked. There was no complimentary masala papad like they used to do before. And the icing on the cake was when they automatically added 20% tip for us - a party of 3. We are usually generous tippers - when the service is good, but we don't like someone deciding for us how much we should tip, especially when we were not a large party. I will not be going back again. Might want to try 4 Monkeys in Summit, or Jashan by Dhaba in Parsippany. The decor and ambience may not be upscale in those places, but the food is delicious, with good sized portions and tip is not automatically added.

The food was not great. We ordered a few veg starters ( Papdi Chat and Babycorn chilly) which were not very appetizing. The non veg starters were comparatively OK.

We held a rehearsal dinner at Mehndi for 90 people the day before our wedding. The food and service were amazing!! Goldie was so helpful and responsive in helping us plan the event and select the menu. On the day of, Pankaj and the rest of the staff were excellent in coordinating everything. All of the food was superb from appetizers to the buffet to dessert and drinks!

The food is a bit pricy but so damn good! This last visit I tried the cocktails too and was super impressed. I had the “Grilled Pineapple & Cracked Pepper” as well as the “Pear & Cardamom Martini”. Pretty sure these come from the SM23 bar and damn it makes me wanna pop over there for a try too.
The “Chicken 65” is a must order appetizer every visit. I had the “Gosht Vindaloo”, “Murgh Tikka Masala”, & “Baingan Mirch Ka Salaan”. Each one of these entrees are standouts that deserve your attention. The aromatics are obvious & distinct in each sauce but blend together beautifully. No 2 dimensional homogenous ‘curry’ sauces. There is clearly thought and care put into these recipes.
The “Naan” is delicious and the rice (despite not being complimentary [which is lame]) flavorful.
This place quickly climbed the ranks of my favorite Indian food in the area. The location is a little whacky/out (hence the average rating for atmosphere) of the way but it’s worth finding parking for. I came here last week and loved it so much I had to come back this week haha. Dug in too quickly to grab pics of my food but I’ll post some next time I go, which I hope is soon. In the mean time I snagged a pic of part of the drinks menu.

20% gratuity and 20% service charge automatically applied for a party of 2 is not worth it for the amount of food you’re getting.

Came here for my wedding anniversary with high expectations based on reviews but it was disappointing. The food was bland and our waiter seemed confused whenever we provided feedback about the food.

We ordered Reshmi Kabab which was overcooked and dry. And they replaced it with the same dish which was not much better. Also ordered salmon dhaniya. The salmon was stale and over cooked. We are regulars and really disappointed to see the drop in quality of food.

A real treat if you like Indian food and especially British style dishes. The menu is excellent and nicely spiced. It reminds me of British style Indian restaurants and as I'm from the UK it is always a real treat to visit. Been coming here for 10+ years and have never had to send a dish back or complain. It is just consistently good. The staff are always amazing. The only issue is when ordering drinks there seems to be a disconnect from ordering to arrival i.e. can be slow.I was unhappy when they recently introduced the 20% service charge for relatively small groups as it is small on the bill and some people may not notice it...they likely deserve the 20% but I do not appreciate it being added to the bill...

The food was just spectacular. I ordered off the three course lunch menu which was priced very reasonably at $20, and had the soup, Saag, and Dal all exceptional. The Naan bread was warm and crispy on the outside but also soft on the inside, and dipped in a side of mint chutney was pure heaven. Everything was brought at once, which I suppose makes sense during lunch hour, but I would have preferred courses so next time I will ask them to do so. Either way I highly recommend.
Kid-friendliness: A bit dark and quiet in there...very much an adult atmosphere I would not recommend kids unless they are well behaved.
