Always 5 stars. Steaks were superb. Outstanding, professional service.
We sat upstairs in a booth and the atmosphere was incredible. Our server, Angel, was absolutely top notch. He knew when to come by, how much interaction we needed and kept our drinks full. You can tell he really loves what he does and it comes through with the experience he provides!
This used to be one of my favorite family run restaurants, but since it's been sold to a corporation, it has really gone downhill. The service was terrible, downright rude. Food was fair at best. The bathroom had not been tended to probably since the night before as it was only noon time and the garbage was overflowing , toilet paper as well as paper towels not on any older, but just sitting out on the sink. It actually made me sad to see what has happened to my beloved Rod's. It had an overall feeling of neglect. I will not be going back.
This used to be a great place to eat. It's below average now. Overpriced, poor seating options, no gluten free bread for a brunch menu, service was below average ( no refill on water, never returned to the table to ask if everything was ok, and the host had no idea how to manage the dining room from what I could tell, and the coffee tasted slightly burned, as if it had been left on the warmer too long.) Food was okay but nothing special. I'm not going back.
I recently received a newsletter/email from Rod's, which stated that they were serving Sunday Brunch. For many years, I was a fan of their Sunday Brunch, which used to have a large, diverse and elegant menu, mostly served buffet style. Their omelet station was my fave. They also offered multiple salads, carving stations, various hot entrees, and a sinful dessert table, which included delicious bread pudding. Rod's brunch was very popular, meaning it was packed. It seemed that they discontinued their brunch buffet during the Covid shutdown. When I recently received their newsletter stating that they were serving brunch, I thought they were bringing back their extraordinary brunch buffet dining experience. I was wrong! It's as if they just printed the words "Sunday Brunch" on the top of their normal printed combined breakfast/lunch menu. We were seated in a small dining room, where I ordered an omelet from the short menu. My food was perfectly fine. My mimosa, on the other hand, was light on the champagne, meaning it lacked fizz. But the real problem was that this ordinary hotel breakfast wasn't what we had excitedly anticipated. Major letdown. Needless to say, we won't return for "brunch."
We hadn't dined here in a couple of years. Wow has it gone downhill. Here's my experience: My garden salad was soggy and the cucumbers were going brown My veggie pasta was okay but so overloaded with garlic I couldn't distinguish the vegetables My husband's crab and shrimp cocktail was ridiculously small- 2 shrimp and about 1/3 cup of shredded crabmeat. Petite Filet was the correct color of medium rare but ZERO moisture. The driest piece of meat my husband ever tasted. He didn't finish it. The waiter was good and fairly attentive for a busy Saturday night. The dining room was 80% full at 8pm. We won't be back.
It's rare to say the words “good value” and “steakhouse” in the same sentence, but in this case you can safely do so. Rod's cuts of steaks and entrees are just that. I took my wife here for our anniversary dinner and sitting in the “train car” did not disappoint. The steaks we had were flavorful and temperatures were close to what was asked for- if not a bit under temp. So why 3 stars? Because on this early Saturday evening (6pm) service was very very slow and just not attentive enough for the second half of our meal. We waited for 20 minutes from the time our dinner was done until we could order dessert. And after dessert it took a mind numbing 35 mins to get the check and get out of the restaurant. Woof.
Not our first time here, but we've always been happy with the service, food, and the ambiance of Rod's.
Oysters, steak and side were perfectly prepared. It was unfortunate that on a Saturday night they were out of too many items and we arrived for a 7pm reservation.
Everything was great! Bartender Matt made the best martini. Service in dining room was fantastic. Food was great.

Rod's was good as usual. My filet was overcooked a little, and the mashed potatoes were not very hot and not creamy at all. Shrimp cocktail was great. Terrific Mexican coffee.
Great place for a nice sit down with friends and catching up. Meal was delicious. Nothing truly bad but service was a bit slow when it came to paying but that could be a good thing if you want to just sit back and relax
We were in the train car which was nice for our business dinner. The food was excellent. The time between courses was longer than anticipated which could be improved. The overall evening was very pleasant .
Our experience was at GK's Red Dog, which is part of RodsThree different steaks ordered medium rare came out more than well done and dry. No one came by to check on us, so we were stuck with them. We had reservations for Rod's layer in the week but canceled them based on what they sent out for food. Clearly no pride in what they put out. We made reservations at Ruth's Chris.
Always excellent food and service. One thing that was disappointing was the noise due to the bar area - it was very loud - seemed that several wedding/events were going on and for whatever reason all the guests were in the bar area. Crowded and loud.
