My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful experience last night for our 10th anniversary. This was our first time at Roots. The service was excellent. Our server Nick was sweet and professional. The food was very good! Cowboy steak cooked perfectly! Beef Wellington also cooked well. Pastry shell could have been cooked a little bit longer, but I was still very pleased with it. Yellowfin tuna tartar was good as well as the lobster bisque. They surprised us with a very beautiful sundae dessert. Thank you for a very good experience! We will definitely be back!
I rate this Roots location a 4.5 out of 5 relative to other steakhouses in the same price/quality range. I think it's a little hard to directly compare a higher end steakhouse with a typical restaurant because of the a la carte nature of the steak menu (which is the main draw). This location was excellent. We ordered the chopped salad and calamari to start, For entrees we ordered the petite filet (medium), prime ribeye (medium rare), and the salmon (medium). For sides we had the original mac and cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly and very good. Their prices are in range of what you should expect to pay for this range of quality. The atmosphere was dark, cozy, and cleanly arranged. While the food and atmosphere was very good the service was fantastic. From the moment we walked through the door there was never a second where the staff wasn't ready to provide customer service in some way without being overbearing. The manager checked in a few times to make sure we were happy. Our waitress was absolutely excellent. She was attentive, pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. But something unique happened. While eating the calamari my son accidentally ate one of the chili peppers. He's not used to any kind of heat so the peppers stopped him in his tracks. I gave him some bread with some butter to help reduce the spiciness (any dairy helps with spiciness). Our waitress noticed this from afar, figured out what was happening and within maybe two minutes she brought a glass of milk over to my son for the spiciness. Obviously my appreciation has nothing to do with a complimentary glass of milk. It had everything to do with a waitress and service team who were focused on providing the best dining experience possible, anticipating needs, and being proactive. Excellent experience all around. We will certainly be back.
I met a friend at Roots last night and I could not be happier with our meal. Our waiter Nick was highly attentive without being overbearing, and the manager even stopped by our table to check in and make sure we were having an extraordinary experience. I had the aged cowboy steak… and it was cooked to perfection. She had the lobster tail, and claimed it was fabulous. The prices are high… which is to be expected at a high end steakhouse, but when you end up eating a meal that melts it your mouth and is bursting with flavor, you realize that sometimes … it’s worth the splurge!
Had the MOST memorable dining experience for my birthday at Roots Steakhouse in Morristown. I’ve been to the locations in Summit and Princeton as well, and am a huge fan of the service and food. Our waiter was incredibly sweet and brought a free Sundae dessert despite not ordering one because we were full. It made our night! My bf had never been to Roots, but was so impressed that he cant wait to return! Our filet mignons were cooked to perfection and all of the apps and sides were incredible. My faves are the colossal shrimp cocktail, burrata app, & Cesar salad! We also got a side of the potatoes au gratin to share. Big thanks to the chef, staff, our waiter, and the managers that came to check on us while dining. It was above & beyond!!!
I came here for lunch on a Saturday. The place wasn’t very busy but seems to be for dinner service. I ordered the dry aged cowboy steak. It was cooked to my preferred temperature of medium rare. The crust on the steak is very pronounced which was a bonus. I also got au poivre sauce and truffle pomme frites. Everything was excellent.
Roots is always a great experience. The service here is incredible. Highly recommend
A first class old school American Steakhouse. They dont miss a detail and every cent spent there gets a value return of good feeling, good nutrition and a boost to self esteem. Manage Frankie Gonzalez is a gentleman of the old school. His staff is first class
Ask for the off the menu surf and turf - it was amazing! All the food was incredible. And if you are lucky enough to get Amir as your server it’s a perfect experience!

My fiancé and I recently squeezed in a much-needed romantic dinner at Roots Steakhouse, and it felt like a heavenly oasis amidst our busy schedules. Seated at the bar, we were fortunate to have Kayla as our waitress, and her exceptional customer service made the evening unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived, Kayla's warm welcome and genuine enthusiasm set the tone for our night. She guided us through the menu with expert recommendations, perfectly pairing our drinks and meals. Her attentiveness was spot-on, ensuring we had everything we needed while allowing us to enjoy our intimate dinner.
In a time when we often feel rushed, Kayla's friendly demeanor and care made us feel truly special and relaxed. If you’re looking for a memorable escape at Roots, I highly recommend asking for Kayla. She turned our dinner into a delightful experience we won’t soon forget!

Ok, so we really like this place but only as a belly bar joint. We've been a few times (at the bar) for drinks and appetizers but did a full sit down/ table dinner last night (mistake). Incredible service and atmosphere but the 16oz Strip was very tough, creamed spinach was great, and the shrimp scampi app was ok. For coin dropped here, there are many better option in and around MoTown.

Came to roots steakhouse last Friday (10/11/2024) to celebrate my birthday and I must say it was quite disappointing...the only reason for the 2 stars is because their tuna tartar is one of the best. Our waiter was not very friendly at all..hardly paid us any attention. My partner and I just felt invisible at our table. His service set the tone for our meal. It was so bad we didn't have dinner. After our appetizers, we got the check and left. Everyone should be treated equally. you never know who you'll have the pleasure of serving that night.

Of course there are better steakhouses out there. Still, I enjoy a cheap steak a much as I enjoy an expensive one. It depends on the day and the budget in mind. Roots offers a good experience between the atmosphere, menu and attentive staff. They never disappoint.
Parking: Paid street parking is also an option but I avoid it if I’m in a rush to grab lunch.
Wheelchair accessibility: You park behind the restaurant. The lot offers elevator access to the ground floor.

This is a regular spot for us but last night we made the decision that we will not be back. The service we experienced at the bar was awful. We were ignored on several occasions and when we asked for drinks or food it was if we were bothering the bartenders. We were never offered anything- I had to ask for a popover which is normally offered upon ordering. The food was good. We did not stay for dessert or another beverage.

The steak was cooked well but not too much flavor for a $60 NY Strip.
