My wife and I went there on Tuesday night and it was very quiet and we enjoyed it. Food was great and drinks were good as well. Walter who has been there for more than 30+ years was amazing. I would highly recommend this for a special occasion or simple date with your significant other.

Had dinner here with two of my best friends and it couldn't have been better. I had the glazed salmon special and it was probably the best salmon I've ever had. I asked for it medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. The wasabi mashed potatoes were incredible. Walter took excellent care of us!

We picked Grand Cafe for a birthday lunch, a high-end place for a special occasion. The food was excellent and came quickly, the service appropriate, ambience and decorations were very nice.
The problem came because we were seated near the bar and the boss man/manager decided to park himself at the bar with a laptop and conduct a loud argument over his phone from there. C'mon man, go to your office for that! This went on for 5 minutes and finally I had had enough, we got up and walked to another table far from the bar, taking our plates with us.
The guy realized he had been rude and inconsiderate, came over and apologized, and offered drinks on the house, which we declined. After that things were fine, and they even turned off the ceiling fans for us, since the AC was a bit strong and there was no one else in the room. I guess I would recommend the place for a high-end meal, and I don't suppose the boss man will embarrass himself like that again.

Outstanding place for special occasion and just for lunch or dinner!
Lovely quiet restaurant. Very crowded. Much older crowd. Food was good. We were in a difficult table where the hurried waiters kept hitting our chairs. The wine was exceptional. The wait staff are very attentive. The owner is on hand greeting all the tables. Walter was very kind on the phone and just as sweet in person. He moved us from in front of the piano to the main dining room area for a quieter table. I love that all the tables have white or pink tablecloths. The carpeting also helps absorb the sound and make for a quieter ambiance. I know people got more casual after the lockdown with their attire but we got dressed up to go to the restaurant, yet other older patrons came in jeans. Very disappointing when people don't dress up for a nice restaurant. I had the bronzino. My husband had the dover sole. Our son had the tuna. Our daughter in law had the pork chop. We shared the lobster salad. Our waiter messed up our order of birthday souffle for our son, but kindly took the charge off our bill. Our son ordered chocolate, but the waiter brought the Grand Marnier souffle instead, which was too sweet.

My wife threw me an amazing surprise birthday party a few years ago at The Grand Cafe and we absolutely had the best experience. Fast forward to now, and it's my turn to throw a birthday party for her. Despite wanting to do something completely different just to mix things up we chose The Grand Cafe again and are very glad that we did.
The food is delicious, and they have a BEAUTIFUL party room upstairs that is split into a bar area and a dining area. It's so much fun having the cocktail hour (with delicious passed appetizers) in one room and dinner in the other. And they let us decorate and personalize the space. We had 35 guests and they all had the best time.
The food, the space, and the staff were all amazing. But Walter, who I dealt with for planning the party was even more than that. He was so easy to work with, so accommodating, and so on top of all of the small, important details, such a pleasure to deal with.
If you're looking to have a private party event in Morris County at a wonderful venue you simply can't go wrong with The Grand Cafe.

A week prior we set up our menu with Walter including a salad selection of warm Brie with greens or classic Caesar, main course of Dover Sole or a wonderful Filet and several dessert selections with red and white burgundy wine flowing all night. It was spectacular
The table by the fireplace was beautifully set up with our custom menu placed at each setting
The staff worked with one of our daughters in law to set up a video slide show of our 50 years of marriage and their very talented weekend piano player played “Jean” the song we danced to at our wedding 50 years ago
This restaurant is a must visit place if you enjoy classic dining, great food, service and ambiance!

If you want to step back in time give this place a go!
White or pink tablecloths depending on time of day, wait staff that are great - all fun if you are in the mood to enter the time machine and leave the Delorian at home as you are not going in to the future.
The food is pretty good but the world has moved on except here so expect a staid and heavy menu.
If you live in Morristown it is a must visit just for the nostalgia...

My mother and I were looking for a place to eat tonight and we stumbled across this amazing restaurant. I cannot remember ever being treated as warmly as we were tonight AND food was amazing!! Our waiter extraordinaire, Walter restored our faith in humanity and everyone from bus boy to owner acknowledged us and made us feel welcome- I cannot recommend enough!!
