I am extremely disappointed with our recent stay. From the moment we arrived, it was one issue after another.
First, our toilet did not work. We called twice and even spoke to someone in person, yet no one ever came to fix it. For a suite meant to accommodate a large family, that’s completely unacceptable.
The “water park” was incredibly misleading. It consisted of only two small slides that even the little kids in our group couldn’t use. On top of that, the pool water was freezing, making it uncomfortable for the children to swim. The elevator took forever to arrive, and then it was completely broken the next day, which made moving luggage and managing small children extremely difficult.
Inside the suite, several basic amenities were either missing or broken. There was no ice bucket and no tub stopper. For a large suite, these are simple things that should absolutely be provided and functional.
What upset me the most was being charged an additional $120 upon arrival for “extra people.” When I booked the suite, I clearly explained how many guests we had. I was told this was the only suite that would accommodate our group. The suite includes four bedrooms (three kings, one room with two doubles) plus a pull-out queen. Our group consisted of four couples and four children (two under two). There should have been no surprise charge after I was transparent about the number of guests from the beginning.
Overall, the lack of maintenance, poor communication, unexpected fees, and misleading amenities made this stay very frustrating. I would not return or recommend this property based on our experience.
On December 30th, 2025, I called the Montego Bay Hotel to make a reservation for a one night stay at the hotel. I spoke to Joel, and specifically asked to stay in one of the renovated rooms at the hotel. He said that wouldn’t be an issue, and I secured the room for January 10th, 2026.
On January 10th, 2026, I checked into room 612 at the hotel. As soon as I opened the door to the hotel room, I knew there was a problem. The kitchen looked as if it was from the 1960’s. I walked further into the room, and discovered the sofa, which was supposed to be a tan color. Unfortunately, the armrests to the couch were black from years of built up dirt. Needing to call my fiancé to let her know about the condition of the room, I looked for a closet to hang the clothes that I brought with me. The only closet in the entire hotel room was a utility closet. Its only use was to store an ancient HVAC unit. I was forced to hang the clothes on the shower rod, so I could make my call.
My fiancé and I decided that we did not feel comfortable staying in this filthy hotel room. She immediately made a new reservation at the ICONA hotel, while I went to the front desk to turn in the room key. I spoke to Claude, who offered to let me look at one of the updated rooms. I told Claude that I asked for an updated room the day I made the reservation, and it was obvious that my request fell on deaf ears. I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in such a filthy hotel. Claude told me that the hotel manager, Brad, would call me as soon as possible to rectify the situation.
After 2 days, I decided to call the hotel to speak to a manager. I called on Monday, January 12th, at 10:00 A.M. I was told that Brad wasn’t working yet. I called back around 2:00 P.M., and spoke to Claude. Again, I was told that Brad wasn’t working yet, and that he only works an hour a day. I left my information with Claude a second time, and asked that Brad call me back.
2 days later, I called the hotel and spoke to a female employee. She told me that Brad wasn’t working, and recommended I send this email.
So, a few things.
This hotel is a disgrace. I would rather sleep on the beach, than in that filth.
Brad sounds like he might be the worst manager in the history of business.
I’ve already called my bank and I will fight this charge as if my life depends on it.
I don’t need the $204 I spent on that disgusting hotel room, but I’m a man of principle. I will get my refund.
If Brad had a shred of integrity, he would’ve called me by now, and offered an apology, in addition to a refund.
I’ve included pictures of the filth that lies inside of this hotel. I hope anyone that reads my review decides to stay at any hotel other than that dump.
It’s now January 19th, and I still haven’t heard from this dump or it’s sad excuse for a manager.
Literally the worst hotel "resort" I've ever stayed at in my life. They should be shut down.
Do not recommend at all. Room was sub-par with cleanliness. The kitchenette was absolutely revolting- long hair on plates, greasy fingerprints on glasses. Must have been the “flippers special” with renovations.
If I could give a 0 star rating I would. There is a lady in the lobby who is VERY rude. I stayed in my room and there were children jumping up and down and kept me up all night. I won’t stay here again.
On my second week here, just about every day see a great sunrise.
Great customer service, clean room and relaxing.
First time here. I enjoyed the place! I would have wanted more locks on the room doors.
You have to clean a little but very large rooms for the 4 bdrm suite. Bathrooms are roomy. All bedrooms have bureaus. Could use more chairs on balcony. Love inside pool. Food was great & big portions in restaurant downstairs
Place is dirty
Needs remodeling
Air didn't work
Rude people.if you complain to
Them they don't care

Great location, staff is very friendly and helpful. Problem with elevators when we we there but got fixed quickly. 2nd year here and would definitely stay again. Only problem with room was that the holder for the toilet paper was broken off. No big deal.
Big rooms but needed work.
Love this hotel and love their restaurant even more. Always get my side of bacon and home fries🤭
Location. Location. Location. While not a 5 star property, (it is 4). It's the location and view that make it a 6 star property.
I just stayed 5days. Yes location is Great!!
Cleanliness is FIFLTHY.
We had an Ocean view suite. The bathrooms had hairs smeared everywhere. The kitchen floor greasey. With shoes on (at all times) you would side across the floor. I cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen floor. I told the front desk I didn’t want room service. I felt like the cleaners came in with filthy brooms with other rooms dirt on them and would sweep your floor with them.
I don’t know how these other reviews are not honest. Even though other rooms may have been cleaner, the stairs!! Concrete should NOT be black with crud, dirt, whatever you want to call it. Pressure wash it!! The railings are dirty. And the Hot Tub!!! There was some unidentifiable objects floating in the water. And the color of the hot tub water was murky. The tiles in the hot tub were filthy. The mats on the floor in the waterpark Brown while the edges of it were clean and white, but where the people walk, you could see they needed to be scrubbed. The health department needs to get in there. Officials should be telling the owners of Montego Bay to get that place cleaned up. I won’t be staying there again. There’s plenty of cleaner places with the same type of location.
One of the cleaners appeared at my door with a bottle of beer in her hand. After I told the front desk I don’t want room service. Montego Bay doesn’t provide you with a choice of having your room cleaned after you arrive. There’s no doorknob paper DO NOT DISTURB signs. so I had told the front desk I don’t want cleaners coming there because I already cleaned the place. And the cleaners came anyway. They waited till we went out and she was in there. I didn’t want somebody in there who appeared at my door with a bottle beer in her hand and her eyes look like she was from another planet.
I’m leaving this review as a warning for all those wanting a clean stay. Don’t choose Montego Bay
