The boat was clean and well-maintained and with the advice of the staff there, we ended up with more crabs than we could eat. The staff were kind, informative, accomodating and treated us like family. There were some issues with mother nature and the staff went FAR BEYOND normal expectations to ensure our safety and comfort. Having been sooooo impressed with their extraordinary customer service, I asked about the cafe. I understand the food to be "phenomenal" (it was packed for dinner). Can't wait to try it. :-)

Never rent a boat from this marina!!! I would give it a 0 star if I could. The boats are in terrible conditions, the seats were ripped, the boat was dirty there was trash in all the seats which shows that it's not cleaned in between rentals and most importantly there were no doors on the boats. I planned a day with my family and two small children to crab on this boat and was super concerned because there were no doors. They tried to accommodate us by giving us a bigger which also was missing a door. They tried to make up for it by making a door with a rope. How is this safe if a small child can fall right through a rope?? We were delayed to leave the dock because of the lack of door and their attempt to make one which delayed our return. They then in turn charged my credit card an additional $100 for the late return. This marina less than accommodating and the boats were in terrible condition!

Canceled NIGHT before on me saying it was too windy. Kids very disappointed. Every boat rental was open on the island but them. No white caps in back bay. No one even bothered to answer phones. Thank goodness Dads Place pulled through with a little boat so kids weren’t disappointed.

We made reservations in advance and had family drive down for they day from NYC. Received a call a couple hours ahead to "confirm" but they confirmed only by asking how many people in our group and whether we had a boating license. Seemed odd at the time. We then show up before 12:30 for our 1 pm rental time and they ask us to confirm number again and then tell us they have problems with their boats. They asked if we minded downgraded to a small boat. We said we didn't. We're then brought out to the smaller boat which was literally falling apart. Broken chairs, ripped up flooring, and overall disgusting. But, we figured we didn't need much to have a good time. They then try to turn the boat on and realize the key is broken. By 1:20 with no update or fixed ignition, we walked to who seemed to be running the show to get a status update. He was in the middle of dropping "f bombs" and throwing clip boards at his staff and all over the dock. We decided it wasn't worth it and got out of the boat. All we got was a "sorry" by the woman at the front desk. When asked why we weren't called before to warn us that they had no functioning boats, she had no response other than that the person before us brought the boat in late. No way somebody was driving that thing - the key was broken, there was no anchor and half of the seats were broken. Do not rent here!

Staff was really friendly and they tried to make your experience great. We had problems with our pontoon rental while on the water and the staff was there within 5 minutes to correct the issues we had. Had a great time crabbing the remainder of our day and they were very accomadating with concerns to refunding us due to the issues. We will definitely be back on future trips.

Just came back from THE most relaxing day on the water!! The staff here were AMAZING, friendly & more than helpful!! From the 2 young girls who checked us in to Paul who helped with the boat and Fra, who came to rescue us when we got stuck!!?Thank you South Dock!!!

We had a great day out on the bay fishing and crabbing. Our experience with South Dock deck hands was nothing but professional! Very knowledgeable. Our boat would not start once we were out on the bay. The deck hands Came out and got the boat running for us. We went to lunch and Their boat guy came and switched out the boat to a new one for us! The maps they provided helped us to navigate our way in the bay. Highly recommend South Dock!!

The 20ft pontoon for the day was perfect . Good crabbing areas . You will have a fun time. Dock hands are great.
I won't rent again. Wanted to rent the 2016 pontoon boat and after he sold me. They told me it was rented so they rented for over 300 for 4 hours some dilapidated boat barely fit for the water. The chair was broke. New engine but celloid was broke so told not to turn engine off WTH then the rented rods one had no handle so you couldn't reel in one had only 8 ft of line REALLY. We're told to call and they would come right out when we called was told he was on another repair and not sure when they could help us. I would not rent from here again. Renter Beware!!!

Rented a boat for my family and the one they gave us had a broken gas gage and a broken depth finder. Worst customer service on island. I have never been treated so poorly in all my time. I will not rent from here again. They have teenage management who show no respect or understand to their customers. Would give 0 stars if I could.

She reserved us a 20' pontoon boat for the afternoon excursion. Once we got there it was exactly what she promised and clean. We had 4 adults and 3 kids with plenty of room on the boat to move about. The boat guy from Tennessee, "Penyton Manning", was terrific with his explanation of the boat, locations to fish and crab. We read a lot of bad reviews beforehand and don't believe everything that you read. If you know how to drive a boat or not just be smart, take your time and know the tides. We caught a shark and 45 crabs in 4 hours. WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE 100% GREAT day for people of all ages. Thanks Jen

If you know how to drive a boat or not, just be smart, take your time and know the tides. We caught a shark and 45+ crabs in 4 hours. WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE 100%!! GREAT day for people of all ages. We rented a pontoon boat on Friday. Want to give 0 stars but it makes you give at least 1. The boat was extremely slow, only moved 6 miles per hour (we had someone with a boating license driving and still got a boat with a 9.9 motor - horrible). Also there was NO working gauges on the boat. We were told to stay within a certain perimeter, which not being as familiar with the area and being given a map that was not easy to read, we went outside of the perimeter. This was an honest mistake and they charged us an additional $260 over the already $500 price and made us go in an hour early. I would not recommend to anyone, we will NEVER go back and will make sure we spread the word how horrible our experience was.
