John’s Fried Chicken is an absolute disaster. Nothing here is edible — not the chicken, not the rice, not any of the side dishes. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and greasy, tasting like it had been sitting out for hours. The rice was hard, completely not chewable, and inedible. The sides were equally terrible — bland, soggy, and clearly made with zero care. The smell alone was off-putting, and after taking a single bite, I had to throw the entire meal in the trash.

For the prices they charge, this is outrageous. There is no quality, no value, and no reason to ever return. This isn’t just disappointing — it’s insulting to anyone who expects even basic, edible food. I’ve had better meals from a gas station.

Do yourself a favor: avoid this place at all costs. Every dish is a waste of money, and the experience is pure frustration. John’s Fried Chicken isn’t a restaurant — it’s a warning to anyone thinking about risking their appetite here.

Place is covered in roaches, surprised not shut down by the health department. Co worker and I ordered lunch, sat down only to see roaches in all size crawling everywhere on the floor and the walls. Interestingly when we told the person behind the counter, she didn’t seem to care. We spend $45 only to toss it after one bite. Be ware!

The name is definitely misleading, you wouldn’t guess it’s an authentic Dominican spot until you step inside. The food is amazing, truly tastes just like what you’d get in the DR.

That said, the prices are pretty steep compared to other Dominican restaurants in the area. The place itself is small with limited seating, and if you end up by the fridge, prepare to be chilly the whole time.

Even with those downsides, I’d go back for the food alone, it’s that good. I just wish the prices were a bit more reasonable for what you get.

The chicken stew & stew pork were flavorful but EXTREMELY salty. The best part of the dishes were the white rice. I don't want hypertension so I won't be returning.

Overpriced compared to other locations. 3 % service charge added to your bill for using a debit or credit card. Chicken is good. Skip the pernil, wasn't good.

Deteriorated is not the word. This place is god awful now oversight must be limited to hudson county were you will get completely different quality. I worked in west ny and went almost everyday.. I was excited when it 1st opened and went often this place went off a cliff real fast dont waste your time or money drive to WNY if you like that much. They got to big to maintain quality.

As a Dominican.. this food sucks and over priced. The food I ordered was barely warm and dry. I ordered a natural juice that was $7 and I promise you there was nothing natural about it. I was extremely disappointed. Within the first bite I literally wanted to give my food back. Don’t think I’ll ever be going back.

Fried chicken was old and soggy, and overcooked. Mashed potatoes are crushed potatoes. No cream or butter. And the coleslaw tasted like it was old I threw almost all of it out
