“I've lived in this area for almost a decade, but had not yet found Latin food that could compare to what I had growing up in Union City and when I lived in the city and visited Washington Heights. Until now, that is! Surrender Cafe recently became available on DoorDash. I had never heard of it, but was drawn by the great reviews, tempting photos of the food, and many of my favorites on a menu with lots of my favorites. This is the first time I've ever ordered from a place, and then immediately again the next day. I especially love that so many of their dishes are available in smaller portions. Want to try the mofongo? Here's the mofonguitos! And meat-only portions can be had of just about everything in small, medium or large sizes, which made it easy for me to sample the beef and chicken guisado, red and black beans, pernil, so I ordered the bistec ecebollado for my main dish. Everything, absolutely everything is delicious, and arrived well packaged. Oh - and I almost forgot - the tres leches! Absolutely top notch. Not only some of the best Latin food I've ever had, but some of the best comfort food I've ever had, period.“

“We had a reservation and we got seated immediately when we arrived. The service was excellent The food was outstanding. Thw shrimp and garlic appetizer and the mariscada (red) were amazing. The red sangria was great as well. We will definitely be making future visits.“

“Came in on a Friday with my brother and so happy to see my favorite bartender Jimmy. He went out of his way to make sure I had a sample of the seafood salad to make sure I liked it. “We were there for a private party. The wait staff was very attentive! The room was set up comfortably allowing room for guests to move around the room. The food was delicious. Assorted vegetables were cooked and seasoned properly which is not always the case at buffets. The flounder was delicious as were the chicken and meat dishes.I would definitely return to dine here again!“

The guacamole was some of the best I have ever had !! I don’t even like burritos but stole a bite of my boyfriends and it was sooooo good! “Absolutely insane quantity of food for the price, especially with the lamb/chicken and rice platters. I have been to several halal food places around here and no one comes close to the portion sizes of these guys. It's great, one of my go-to places for rice bowls. It also tastes great, you really get quality AND quantity.“

“I was at a local school and walked here for lunch after finding it on Google. The service was impeccable! I ordered the classic Dominican dish, "Tres Golpes" aka Three Hits and was super satisfied. I offered to pay but was told to eat my lunch first and deal with the bill later. I appreciated that.When I saw that the eggs were slightly runny, the young lady gladly took them back and recooked them. The place was filled with some old timers who were cracking jokes and enjoying each other's company as Jose Luis Rodriquez played in the background. One of the workers sat by me and ate his lunch. It was a really cool and laid back, old-school vibe as if I was having a meal in Santo Domingo. I will return again.“

“So I stumbled on this place and decided to try it because I was starving. I must say the gentleman that helped me had excellent customer service skills, was funny, courteous and helpful, the food came out pretty quickly, the environment and was clean but more importantly the food was great. Definitely would recommend it and would be ordering from here more often. The only thing i would change is having Portuguese rolls instead of sliced bread.“

“Love the food here they definitely give ample food for the money. Dining area is rather small I always do take-out. Food is served tray line style so you're able to see and select your menu items. It can get very busy at times due to the small serving area where there's usually only one person taking orders.“

“Location Could be better but it's on the main drag. Cars coming & going from all directions. Parking hard to get. You have to park on side street or front with your blinkers on. Atmosphere: pick up only. Clean easy to read menu. Counter help speaks English. Food Quality that speaks for itself when you taste it. Recommend the quesadillas. Big full & filling. Not sure of the other items. They offer lunch specials My second time here. Check it out fir yourself.“

“Such a great place! The food and staff are 5 stars! I was in the ER for hours and got the house special, chicken and veggies with rice, tacos, and a milkshake. My doordash driver brought the wrong food and pretty much told me too bad and they had another delivery. I called up Judy's Kitchen and they apologized and made me a new meal and delivered it themselves. So thankful! I was there for almost 8 hours, they really helped!“
