I am writing to express my deep concern regarding an unpleasant experience my daughter and her friends recently had at Sumi Ramen. As a group of young teens, they visited the restaurant for lunch and each ordered approximately $15 worth of food. Upon paying their bill, they inadvertently forgot to leave a tip a simple oversight on their part.
Rather than addressing the situation with understanding or a polite reminder, a staff member specifically a young Asian woman with short black hair approached them in an unprofessional and aggressive manner. She reportedly confronted them by saying, “WHY no tip? Problem, is there a big problem?” in a harsh tone, glaring at them and making them feel extremely uncomfortable. This interaction left the girls feeling intimidated and pressured into tipping.
While I fully acknowledge the importance of tipping and teaching young people about proper dining etiquette, it is entirely inappropriate for restaurant staff to confront customers, especially minors, in such a hostile and disrespectful way. A courteous and respectful approach would have gone much further in educating and guiding these young patrons.
As a parent, I am extremely disappointed that my child was subjected to this type of treatment. I believe it is important for Sumi Ramen to address this behavior internally and take steps to ensure that all customers regardless of age are treated with dignity and respect.
I kindly request a response from the management regarding this incident, and I hope that appropriate action will be taken to ensure that no other guests are made to feel uncomfortable or intimidated during their dining experience.
if I continue to see such behavior, I will proceed to take further action.

Honestly the reviews had me skeptical walking in but I do not regret coming here. The food was delicious and waitresses were attentive. I got the chicken bao and chicken ramen. My friend got the shrimp bao and seafood ramen. We loved it!
not super authentic but not terrible. food is a disappointing but service is good

editing to add: the kara-age is definitely some frozen Tysons bites from Costco or something that's been deep fried on site. the furthest thing from actual kara-age I've had
Sooooo good. Love the black queen Ramen

Not bad
Stopped by on a rainy monday afternoon, food was wonderful, has sushi, Thai tea, ramen, and octopus balls. Everything was ready super quick and was wonderful. They also seemd to have plenty of veggies and even vegan options if you are looking for that

I was delighted and suprrised to see SO MANY CLEARLY MARKED VEGAN OPTIONS!!!! Excellent vegan tempura, ramen, and even a special vegan sushi roll featuring cream cheese and veggies. Prices are very reasonable. The service has been consistently good (we have the same server every time and she is always very kind and attentive). It's a small place, but very comfortable, and they have privacy screens to separate parties at the large communal table which was a very thoughtful touch.
I’ve been here a few times and the food and service has been great every time! Lots of variety on the menu without it being overwhelming, I think there’s something for everyone on there. I really love the tomato beef soup.
Servers are attentive and polite, and I’ve only gone at non-rush times (late lunch, early dinner) but each time it was a pretty calm atmosphere with music playing quietly. You will hear kitchen noises since there’s a half wall separating the dining hall and kitchen but it is infrequent.
