I have been a loyal customer of Spike’s for 15+ years. I went to Spike’s with my best friend on October 9th to celebrate my birthday, which is an annual tradition for us. We ordered a dozen bluepoint oysters and a dozen top neck clams on the half shelf, as well as a bucket of steamere and two orders of soft shelled crab. The softshell crab was delicious! The oysters and clams would have been delicious, but the person who sucked them drained out all of the liquid (liquor) serving us dry clams and oysters with no liquid brine. I mentioned it to our server explaining there should be liquid in the shell and that the liquid should not drained. Our server stated the manager shucked them. The manager is either inexperienced or doesn’t know how to shuck shellfish and needs training. The oysters and clams were just ok. The bucket of steamers were delicious, but the bucket was not completely full and at $28 a bucket that was disappointing. The bucket maybe had 18 steamers…way overpriced at $28. We will go back again and request the liquid brine be left in the shell. We probably won’t be ordering steamers again. We hope the owner sees this and addresses it. Our meal was around $160 plus tip.

Went here a couple of months ago. Thought food was very good. Bit pricy, but good. Went yesterday for a early dinner. Not so great this time. Husband had mussels that were tough, snow crab legs were alright, lobster chowder was terrible. I had broiled shrimp that had too much paprika on them and were also tough. Cole slaw was tasteless. I don't think I can go back again and have the same food plus pay over $100. For it!!

Lot of similar places in the Point pleasant area,! The place is really cozy and service wasn't so great, as we expected in this nice area. The server (young kids) not really nice and polite. As well, we expected the fresh amazing seafood, but i find a Sands in seafood ?! Save your teeth! be careful do not go to Spike's!

Food was delicious. Portions were a tad smaller then I would've thought. Seafood was very fresh! Good selection of appetizers and entrees.
Update - definitely a difference between lunch and dinner menu but all delicious!

I've been going here since I was about 10 years old. I'm now bringing my own children who are approaching 10 years old and they've been going since they were little. Food is consistent quality and the seafood is always fresh. Great little hole in the wall type atmosphere. Will continue to go into my old age I'm sure.
