My son: “best taco/Mexican-food I ever had”
(Mango Shrimp taco $6)

I’ve been going to Taco Surf since about 2011 when I moved to the east coast from Southern California. This place is a mirror of the type of mexican food one expects in SoCal. The standards are:

1) a salsa bar (I like to mix the tomatillo green, with tomato red with chipotle hot pepper brown salsa— need about 3 tubs to drown a burrito).

2) Horchata, Jamaica and Tamarindo drinks. (Jamaica was always my favorite but Horchata is #1 in SoCal)

3) Fish tacos.

I really appreciate this place and always stop if i can when heading to Seaside Park.

The cod fried burrito is excellent.

I reserve 5 stars for top ingredients like all-organic and farm/table. Not sure if Taco Surf has that standard— but didn’t see it advertised.

The dining area is pleasant and clean.

The owner stopped by our table today and asked how everything was. I had a mouthful of food and vowed to walk back and talk to him after i was done— but he was already gone. I appreciate he’s questioning his customers. I would’ve loved to ask him his inspiration for his restaurant. I remember a “Taco Surf” in San Diego’s Pacific Beach which came into town after I had moved to Los Angeles (which has significantly worse Mexican food— closer to border = better Mexican). (Santana’s in Pt Loma was the gold standard in the 1990s for burritos)

Good luck to Taco Surf & I hope he one day he standardizes the ingredients at organic+plus in the future so I can rate this Pt Pleasant / Bay Head icon as 5 stars. It has so many good items on the menu it’s hard to choose.

To anyone complaining about a 1-taco price, that’s absurd! Order as many as you need!

Food was good, not as good as previous visits. Items in my order were mixed up, but we did have a large order.

I love Mexican food but this place menu feels empty even tho it looks full, I got the 6 dollars taco it was okay, but who eats only 1 taco? At least get the trio tacos on the menu for a fair price!
I ordered the grilled chicken quesadilla for my girlfriend and she couldn’t eat it because the chicken tasted burnt. “Salsa did not taste like well made salsa”
Over all place looks good, well designed!

I’ve been a loyal customer since about 2007 and I have only made 2 bad reviews in my life time but, I feel compelled to share my continued disappointment with this restaurant. If I do eat here, I only order 1 item because it’s the only thing that’s half way decent & it’s a salad. I took an enormous chance by trying the “Aloha Chicken Tacos”, and my oh my was this a disaster. Before I even got them home, whatever “sauce” is on them was all over everything in the bag. This saturated the entire bottom of said bag, then proceeded to soak through it & spill out all over the floor of my car while I was driving. Mind you, I only live a 3 minute drive from this location. The tacos they sold me were soaking wet (in what I still don’t know) and tasted extremely sour. They were so disgusting I had to throw them all in the trash! I spent almost $30 on the blandest guacamole I have ever eaten, & 3 tacos that were soaking wet, sour, and completely inedible. They looked absolutely nothing like the picture on their website. There was also no pineapple in them which is supposed to be one of the main ingredients of this menu item. Not sure what has happened with this specific location but, it is just not as good as it once was years ago. I’m extremely disappointed considering the high price of their food, because it does not match the quality. Not even close, do yourself a favor and just hit up Chipotle or a local authentic Mexican restaurant. Do better Surf Taco, you just lost a loyal local customer.

We have ordered a few items from Surf Taco & decided they should just close. We typically make our own tacos & quesadillas but decided to try out Surf Taco. We usually give an establishment a 3-strike chance, but 2 was enough in this instance. We picked up our orders each time & the place was empty on both occasions. Today we noticed another Mexican restaurant that was packed, & we now know why.

This place use to be good. Ordered a maverick burrito. IT was nothing more than a wrap overloaded with rice and beans. Could not find any chicken and very little cheese or anything else. $40 + order for this, a salad and some chips. They are local business, but I've grown tired of taking a chance and being disappointed.

Terrible. Ordered a black bean burrito with rice pico sour cream and Guac, and they gave me a burrito containing only black beans. My wife kept taking bites of the burrito, desperately searching for anything other than black beans. After about the 5th bite she decided to investigate and found no evidence of any other ingredients (see photo). Ordered chips and queso, and they forgot to include queso. Ordered the jenk chicken burrito, and it was full of grizzle. Never again.Better off eating leftover pizza heated up in the microwave (speaking from experience).
