This was some of the best BBQ food we've ever had. Exactly what we were looking for!
We stumbled upon this little place returning to our rental from Atlantic City, and it was well worth it. Great food and fantastic service - we were the only ones eating in, but the woman serving us was a gem. She was genuinely interesting in where we'd been and how our trip was going.
We'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area again.

I normally would not write a review ..but have ordered here many times and it has only been average at best… it has been a few yrs and thought we would give it another try…but was a mistake! ordered Rib dinner with Hog Rolls said they were a wonton We couldn’t even eat them. Whatever was inside Fried down to a gross nugget …Ribs were dry and over cooked… Just a complete waste of money Never again! Put some effort into your food!!

I'm sorry, but this place has awful food. The place was empty inisde during lunch time - should have been a warning! Ordered "steak tips" that i specifically asked if they were smoked as was told yes. They were barely seasoned plain steak pieces with bbq sauce on top. The mac and cheese tasted like Kraft food service cheese out of a can. The wings my son got were a little bit better though. I didn't even finish my "lunch portion" of the steak tips (fyi this was a child's size portion, know that going into it). The owner im guessing she was, was very nice though. We really had higher expectations. There's plenty of great BBQ places around here, sadly this one missed the mark big time.

Me and my girlfriend were waited on by who I'm assuming was the owner. She was sweet at first but kept getting impatient and it felt like we were being rushed out of there. In fact, I was still picking at some of my food and she kept coming over what seemed like almost every minute asking if I was done and if she could remove my plate. I said that I was still picking that's when she said that she doesn't like empty dishes in front of her it's a "pet peeve" Needless to say we left about 5 minutes after her coming over the 5th time

Let there be no hesitation when choosing The Hickory Hog for some great, soul pleasing, lip-smaking, finger licking BBQ. We were served by the sweetest curly hair waitress who was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient. She took great care of us from A-Z she anticipated our needs before we had to ask for anything along with the rest of the team. Now let's get down to the important part...The BBQ food. We tried the BBQ Chicken which was just the right amount of basted heaven sent fresh chicken and the Baby Back ribs. The Baby Back ribs were tender, moist, fall of the bone goodness that you long for. the Cornbread with a thick buttery honey basted deliciousness that I wanted to shove in my mouth whole it was so good!! We also tried the Mac and Cheese-and that too was so delicious that I wanted to go in the kitchen and marry the cook!! We went 4th of July-there wasn't many patrons, I'm assuming it's because everyone is down the shore...but they were missing out! Complete with a parking lot and a comfortable dining room...this is easily my top 3 in BBQ food ! Prices were extremely reasonable and establishment was clean. Please do try them-I mean this with my whole heart-It was a 10 out of 10 for me.

Family and I stopped here on our way back to Texas from Destin. I couldn’t recommend this place more. The food was excellent! The restaurant is really neat and the lady that waited on us, April, was very nice and a good server. The town of Lucedale is such a clean and neat little southern town. Will definitely be going back if we are heading back this way!

The Hickory Hog is just okay. I rolled in for a dinner on a Sunday night and it was empty except for one other party. It honestly felt like a liminal space. Staff were friendly.Ordered a plate of chicken tenders as an app and was pretty dissapointed, they seem to just come out of the freezer and closer in texture to a chicken nugget than chicken tenderLOIN which I was expecting. Did not have any of the BBQ but did have the Triple Play Burger which was a pleasant suprise I liked it very much. Ordered it medium and thought it seemed a little overcooked on my first bite just going by color but it was still very moist and tasty.
