Came here to celebrate end of math camp that my husband was teaching. He loved this place during undergrad, and brought me there to experience for the first time. It was absolutely slammed when we got there. The staff is quite nice. We were rushed to order (while we were still waiting on a table) since they were so busy so it’s understandable. I did get dirty silverware but chose to ignore it as we’re eating pizza, don’t need any of that. But I went to use the women’s restroom and there a was a huge guy in there washing his hands. I did a double take and backed out of the bathroom to make sure I walked into the right one. Yep, he’s in the wrong one. Anyway, food was great, the pizza was absolutely delightful, will return for some of the best pizza I’ve had in the tristate area.

The experience at Conte’s hasn’t changed much in at least my 25 years of visits: crowded parking lot, wait in line (no reservations), menu with wide array of options wrt pizza, no piped music to compete with many conversations, brisk service, and sublime pizza. Coming a month after a meal at Sally’s Apizza in New Haven, Conte’s proved superior in its blend of fundamentals: the dough/crust, tomatoes, and cheese. Always worth the wait as good things are.

The plain cheese pizzas are expensive and it was just okay. Additionally, you have to wait even if you placed your order ahead of time. It was very crowded in there. The staff are very friendly though.

Great pizza with super friendly service. Crazy busy on a Saturday night but they take your pizza order as you're waiting to be seated. We were seated into 10 minutes and the pizza arrived shortly after

Just went to Conte’s with my son and we ordered a large plain pie and a salad w/ house dressing. The house salad consists of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. It’s really fresh and delicious! The pizza can be cooked perfectly, in which case I’m in heaven, BUT, this time, the bottom was completely burned. I told my waitress, “we can’t eat this,” and she immediately said that a new one would be made. The new one came out PERFECT. Something that is absolutely stellar at Conte’s is the service. The waitresses are just incredible and always so cheerful and helpful. My only other comment is that I sometimes have had issues with the bottom of the pizza being too burned. I guess next time I’ll have to specify not to burn the crust! The thing is that we LOVE the way they do the sauce and cheese to perfection; it’s the crust that gets you.
All in all, I love everything about this place. From the people at the cash register to the waitstaff to the food and to the old Italian restaurant/bar atmosphere. I hope they NEVER remodel so the incredible vibe can be maintained.
