Very bad attitude of the person on the phone
I order here frequently and the food is always really good. My favorite sushi place in Princeton!

If we only came here once, it would have been 5 stars. Upon second visit and trying more of the menu, I have to knock it down to a 4.
The good: The crispy spicy tuna appetizer was great. The Snow Queen halibut was absolutely incredible. The fish quality in the sushi is high across the board.
The less-good: I ordered a signature maki (the Ice and Fire) and did not like it. The Salmon Mentai was way too salty. The tofu skewer's breading was soggy.
At this price point, one of my criteria for 5-star is that I can order anything off the menu - and even if I assumed I wouldn't like it, the chef would be good enough to change my mind. This doesn't meet that bar.

Wonderful sushi, certified by a friend with Celiac to be safe. We went twice during our trip to Princeton, I got the sashimi combo the first time and the pan fried gyoza the second time. Both visits were lovely. Restaurant is BYOB only, there is no beer, wine, or cocktail menu - but they will bring you glasses and a bucket of ice!

I waited food 55 min after ordered. the omakase sashimi was all salty. and some fish had smell and specially oyster. And I am writing down in the bathroom right after came back home with water poopoo. I guess it is because of oyster. Trust me, I am asian I ate so many different sashimi in my whole life even in korea, Japan, hongkong, china,, macau, thiland...and I really cannot say all fish quality of this restaurant was acceptable.

My partner and I found this place 5 years ago, and it’s been a date night staple for us since. The staff is friendly and so accommodating, doesn’t matter when we go, lunch or dinner there’s always a great vibe and it helps that it’s in one of our favorite cities in NJ. We take our son with us now and he loves it too. We’re not going to gate keep this place, if you’re looking at reviews and you’re on the fence, consider this the defining review that will get you to go. Bring a bottle of wine, order the summer roll and the scampi, and tell them Juan sent you. You won’t be disappointed.

We all love Elite Five for different reasons. I love it because they do a great job with my allergies and my children love it because they have so many delicious options and get what they want. We are picking up or dining in often!
Would not visit anymore. Poor food taste
Great , well prepared and delicious food!
They told me they could make a safe dish for my husband. It turns out, they couldn't.
I've eaten takeout from Elite Five many times over the years. My husband has a serious mushroom allergy, and I've always been very clear with them and it hasn't been a problem. Yesterday, I tried to place an order on the website and it crashed. I called in my order and told them about the allergy. I confirmed a second time at the end of the call. When my husband picked it up, he noticed that there was nothing on the receipt about his allergy. I called them again to confirm it was safe, and they assured me it was.
My husband spent the night vomitting. We ate the same amount of the same food, so it wasn't food poisoning (not that it would be better if it was), and I was fine. I called the manager today and he kept insisting that there were no mushrooms in the dishes we ordered. That isn't the standard for an allergy safe dish. It was likely cross contamination from a utensil or a work surface. His apologies were non-apologies. I no longer feel safe ordering food from here for my husband.
I strongly recommend that if you have a food allergy, you steer clear. They screwed up, refused to acknowledge it, and generally seemed unconcerned that they have a process issue.

Unacceptable. Never coming back.
I used to be a regular customer, but after two awful experiences, I’m done.
First, I ordered pasta through Uber Eats and found a piece of steel scrubber in my food. That’s not just disgusting — it’s dangerous. I reported it right away, but there was zero follow-up. No apology, no responsibility taken.
I tried to brush it off as a one-time slip and gave them another chance — big mistake. I chose this place for an important birthday celebration due to its location and completely regret it. The dine-in experience was a disaster. The waitress was rude and completely inattentive. I get that she was handling too many tables, but that’s not my problem. We were left waiting 20–30 minutes for food, and every time we needed something, we had to go find someone ourselves. With kids at the table, this was beyond frustrating.
This restaurant clearly doesn’t care about customer safety or experience. I’ll never spend another dollar here.
Best sushi in Princeton. Love the sweetheart roll
Excellent Japanese restaurant close to Princeton University.
Elite Five in Princeton is a gem! The food is always fresh and full of flavor, and the atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. What really sets this place apart is Tony, the owner—he takes the time to get to know his customers and always gives a warm welcome every time we come back. That personal touch makes every visit feel special. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food and even better hospitality!
