Very disappointed in our experience last night. I had made a reservation for 3 to celebrate a friend's birthday. Two of us arrived early and sat in the bar for a drink and were treated very warmly by the server/bartender. At 6:30, we were shown to a very small table (clearly meant to be a 2-person table). Have had a great experience there in the past. Not sure it was my selection (tempura mushroom, burrata, wings) but this time the food was wanting: bland and high fat (especially tempura). The service was great: efficient and unobtrusive. Nice wine and drink selection. I'm sure this was a one off experience
This was the most disappointing of my three visits to Mistral. In short, the menu has entirely too much seafood. Perhaps 75% of the "medium plates" on the dinner menu were seafood. They even ruined the sole pasta dish by preparing the pasta with squid ink. I would have expected the menu to offer at least one chicken dish. I ordered the duck with plum sauce to avoid seafood. The duck was good but not great. (Duck is often chewy.) The appetizers -- ham & cheese beignets...
