So I hear this location is under new management! You need to tighten up or you will be closing your doors soon! After a long day I decided to treat my twin daughters and myself, this is where one of them wanted to go. I have always liked the food here, but after last night, I will never visit THIS location again! We waited a few minutes in an empty restaurant finally to be greeted by a host. Once greeted she walked to sit us and each table she took us to was dirty. None of the tables had been cleaned. There were dirty dishes and soiled tables. After the third table that she walked to we were seated at a table with old torn seats. A waitress finally made her way over after apologizing for the wait, but stated she was talking with two male customers for a while and had to go to the bathroom. She took our drink orders and order. One of my girls did not order anything as she wanted something from another place that I was going to stop at on the way home. She brought back the drinks. My daughter asked for straws and I asked for an order of guacamole as I don’t eat the salsa, because the salsa is always too spicy for me. She said she would be right back. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands as the menus were nasty. They were sticky and wet. When I came back she still had not returned with at least straws. My girls said she had been at a table across the room chatting with two males seated eating their food since she left our table. We watched as she stood at their table talking with them with her back turned for over 30 minutes. She finally goes to the back then comes to our table and says that our food would be out shortly. I told her ok, but what happened to the straws and the order of guacamole that I ordered. She says that she forgot and went to go get it. At this point my girls had eaten the chips and salsa that was provided when we were first seated. I told her that I no longer wanted the order of guacamole. I asked for new drinks as the current drinks were watered down from waiting for straws for so long. She apologized and said that the guys were old family friends that she had not seen in years and that it was her 21st birthday. The lady who originally sat us finally brought out our food and said that it was free for our long wait. I had her bring to go containers at this point because at this point it was 10pm and I was very agitated and didn’t even want the food! While I appreciate the gesture, the whole experience was very unprofessional and I have never experienced such. Before we left the table one of my daughters threw up the salsa she had consumed while waiting. I get home and my other daughter who did not order anything wakes up in the middle of the night throwing up salsa and with bad diarrhea. She did not even eat the food that I got her on the way home because it was late and she was tired. I find it strange how they both got sick and they are the only ones who consumed the food from your establishment. I didn’t eat anything as it was to late and I honestly didn’t trust the food at this point. Again I did not have the salsa because I ordered the guacamole. All this said, again I will never visit this establishment again. It was a horrible experience from the time we walked through the door and even after we got home! New management needs to tighten up or you will be losing a lot of business if this is how you are going to run it!

Not the best Mexican food, especially for the vegetarian options

I asked for Gluten-free corn tortilla, but was served flour tortillas. Fortunately, I realized their error before eating them. They apologized and replaced them.

We went for dinner last Saturday & had ordered kids veggie hard tacos & 2 orders of enchiladas. Also had ordered 1 virgin mohito & a drink. Server wrote order but had to go & check with chef multiple times if they can do veggie only version of hard tacos and enchiladas or not. Despite we had veggie only tacos, enchiladas etc at on the borders earlier. Then our drinks came very late. There after, 2 enchiladas plates came, we had told him to bring smashed beans but instead it was black beans but we eat it. Then we had ordered guacamole & sour cream on side which didn't come but after telling another server it came. Because our server didn't even show up much after taking order. The other server who came to deliver food, says that our server who took order is new. Then 2 quesedelillas comes, then we told that we had ordered 2 hard veggie tacos, then delivery server takes it back and brings 2 soft veggie tacos, then again we say we had ordered 2 hard veggie tacos because that's what my son eats. Then they finally bring 2 plates of 2 hard veggie tacos each. We now took it without saying as finally hard tacos had shown up, despite we had only ordered 1 plate of 2 veggie hard tacos. Then my wife's virgins mohito came but was very sour & no where tasted like mohito instead tasted like lemonade, so she returned it back. Finally our server shown up saying that's how mohito is made. He took my cc way back inside to charge and gave me the final receipt. Not coming back to this location ever again, might go to different location.

We decided to give the Princeton location of On the Border one last chance on DoorDash. The last two orders were far from perfect, but this one? I’ll never order again. I’ll probably never go to another location anywhere. I don’t know what this food is, but it’s not Mexican. The “refried” beans were a soup of consisting of whole pinto beans. The guacamole was just large chunks of avocado. The steak nachos consisted of a tiny container of tortilla chips covered in pinto beans, steak and raw jalapeños - complete with all of the seeds.

I don’t know what happened, but whomever decided pinto bean soup could be described as “refried beans” should be fired.

Well I won’t be back! Restaurant itself is dirty, chairs have the seats covered in cracked vinyl - honesty use some duct tape (or seriously get yourself some new chairs for your restaurant). Booths were dirty, the food just meh, dried out crunchy rice, fajitas greasy, chips cold, the place is going downhill it’s obvious. Save your money Princeton and maybe go to Taco Bell …

my husband and I dinned on the border on Lawrenceville NJ yesterday, the server was extremely rude and kept rolling his eyes on us the whole time when we asked for something, I placed additional orders for to go, it was a Fajita ultimate, and left the restaurant at 1005 by the times they were about to close, once we got home we checked the food was not there and when we called next day the store manager Pedro was extremely unprofessional and insinuated that we were lying telling us that he cannot help us with anything and will have to investigate the incident, no apology for the what happened. this was out first and last visit because it was a horrible and unpleasant experience.

Went here with a group of friends during Happy Hour.

Their margarita grande is excellent! Their salsa is very flavorful and the tortilla chips were served hot.

The quessadillas were very good, but the jalapeño poppers and loaded nachos were just OK.

We were a large group and our server did an outstanding job getting our drinks and food!!!

Everything was great but the restaurant really could use a makeover. Benches are worn, walls are banged up, just a very dingy look. If they’re going for the tired Mexican cantina look, they’ve achieved it.

Great food at on the border. Slow service for being the only customer in there but food was hot, fresh and delicious. Better than chili's thats for sure.

We went to celebrate may 5 and was fantastic.

Shady business tactics! DO NOT SUPPORT! They have been closing multiple locations without any notice to their customers or staff. They have since been trying to hide this from the public by sending notices to ex staff that they aren't allowed to take legal action. With the money this establishment has spent trying to make themselves look better, they could have given severance pay to the employees they tossed away like trash. Businesses like this do not deserve to operate in this country. Disregarding human life is an unacceptable business practice that is all too common in this country. Selfish tactics such as this harm our society and economy. Companies like this do not seem to understand a very simple concept. Your staff are not machines built to submit to your bidding. They are human beings that are part of the community they serve. Hurting them will affect their business as well as the rest of the community. If staff aren't being paid fairly, they can't be effective consumers and stimulate the economy. Take a stand against destructive businesses like this. Support you fellow man and community.
