I sat at a table close to the bar and started with the BBQ Miso Octopus as my appetizer, followed by the Seared Viking Scallops for my main course. The slaw and potatoes that accompanied the octopus were a bit under seasoned, but still enjoyable. The coleslaw complemented the miso BBQ nicely, and the octopus portion was generous, though it was slightly overcooked. The scallops were excellent—large and juicy, and I particularly liked the fennel that came with them. The beans weren't to my taste, but that’s just my personal preference. I did face some issues during my visit, and while the restaurant manager was attentive at first, he seemed frustrated when things went awry and ultimately did not follow up with me, leaving my concerns unaddressed. The staff was very friendly, and the venue itself was pleasant. It appeared that the bar manager was working from a table in the small bar area, which felt a bit unprofessional given the setting. With a computer and several folders spread out, it seemed he lacked a proper workspace. If it weren't for the lack of follow-up at the end of my experience, I would have rated this experience four stars. However, leaving my issues unresolved without an apology leads me to give it a two-star rating. I hope this feedback encourages The Peacock Inn to treat all individuals with the respect they deserve.

Gorgeous room in a beautiful place! Wonderful staff, very old-school vibes. Also: one of the best afternoon teas I have ever been to. Worth the trip just for that.

Service was warm. Place was super quiet in case you are looking for lively place, this is not it. Appetizer and main course (bass with sunchokes) were good. The wine collection and cocktails were done well too. Ordered two desserts and both of them were just okay
I travel to Princeton a couple of times per year. I stay at the Peacock Inn when I’m in visiting. Recently a new hotel has opened in Princeton. I’ve checked it out and it’s fine. I still prefer the Peacock Inn. The Inn has much more character. The rooms are very nice. The service and the restaurant are excellent!

We love the Perch restaurant at the Peacock Inn. We've been going for several years and have sampled food from different chefs. Service is always excellent and welcoming. Food is excellent and the wine and cocktails splendid. Highly recommended for a special night out,
All things considered, it is our favorite restaurant in Princeton.
We dis not stay at the hotel. We went for the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Our server, Louis, was an excellent waiter. FANTASTIC!

Reviewing as someone staying in the rooms. Not commenting on things to be expected of an old building, which did also present unique issues;
- Team not available 24 hrs a day as claimed
- A/C window unit in the base rate room was super loud and will not come to temp
- paint touchups were done in seemingly all empty rooms with a darker paint shade than existing, so it looks like a patchwork mess. This is an easy detail to get right but is a testament to the all around lack of care with the rooms.
- Carpeted room with what seems to be bleach spots or stains, blinds dirty & broken
- They no longer have a contract with the nearby YMCA gym for guests, and mentioned this as being a more recent change
Given these issues I was able to change rooms for an upcharge. The upgraded room had quieter AC, functional blinds, cleaner carpets. For the base room rate I expect better. The rooms look much bigger and way nicer in the pictures. This is probably a good event space and a relatively good restaurant but certainly not a good Inn in my opinion.

Unfortunately, the terseness of the main front desk gentleman (Mike) and the manager (Julie) made my stay less pleasant than it could have been. First the good things: pleasant room, luxury in-room amenities, reasonable breakfast, complimentary premium tea throughout the day, fantastic location. Devon and another front-desk staff member went the extra mile with their friendliness, and even helped me with my luggage upstairs. Less than good: (1) prior to booking, I spoke with Mike on the phone to ask whether I could check-in early and if there was dry cleaning—and made clear that I would only want to book if these were possible. Mike was friendly during this call, and confirmed that early check-in was almost always available and that a high-quality dry cleaner in-town could easily do a same-day service for me. After booking, and several days before check-in, I called again to confirm. Spoke to Mike again, but this time, he tersely informed me there was no early check-in. When I asked for the address of the dry cleaner he had so highly recommended, he refused to give it to me. Confused, I looked up the name he had mentioned and discovered that it was not in fact in town, but over 20 miles away, that same-day service had to be arranged over a week in advance, and that there was no pick-up or delivery. The business had 3 stars on Yelp. (2) When I discovered the fridge in my room had stopped working overnight—and that the food I was storing in there was starting to go bad—I called Mike to ask for someone to take a look. Several hours later, no one had come up. I called again with a gentle follow-up. Later, the manager Julie came by. No apology for the inconvenience or delay. She said she would try to get a new fridge brought in. Four hours later, no news. I called down and asked to speak with Julie. When I asked whether there were any updates, she sounded defensive. "I don't know," she said. "When I know, I'll let you know. Okay?" Later that evening, I received a half-hearted offer to move into the room next door, which turned out to have an inferior layout. I politely declined, since I was staying only a few days. I did not get the sense that Julie wanted to do anything in the least to make up for the issue. (3) When I called Mike to ask about extending my stay for a day, he offered no quote and instead charged my credit card immediately. I received a receipt for a rate that was over $40 higher than what was accessible on the hotel website. Mike insisted, however, he had given me the best rate and looked annoyed when I asked him to reverse the charge so that I could book my room myself. (4) When I checked out, the front desk offered to store my luggage for a few hours. Apparently, their idea of keeping it safe was leaving it in the bar seating area. No tag, no attempt to secure the items, just placed in the open atop a table and a chair facing the front door. When I came back to pick up my luggage, I saw it there, picked it up, and walked back out—no one seemed to notice or tried to verify that I was in fact the owner of these items. So given the extremely high room rates, I would say that the level of service this hotel offers is not on par with its self-image as a homey, boutique four-star experience.

We hosted our small (45-person), unconventional wedding at the Peacock Inn and could not have been more pleased. We got married in the back garden, had the cocktail hour in the front garden, and a luncheon at the restaurant. Julie, the manager, was instrumental in making our wedding day memorable and perfect. She was incredibly professional in the planning - responding promptly to our questions, paying meticulous attention to details we hadn't even thought of, accommodated all of our requests, and even recommended several florists. Julie is truly an exceptional manager. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue is and the excellent food and drinks, which speaks volumes about the high standards at the Peacock Inn. We are so grateful for the unforgettable memories we created at the Peacock Inn on our wedding day!

This past Sunday we had my son's small wedding luncheon at the Peacock Inn. We had approximately 40 people. The Peacock Inn was the perfect venue for our affair. From the moment we arrived, The grounds were planted with beautiful flowers and assorted greenery. The dining room was so elegant and warm. The tent in the back of the restauranton the grounds was perfect, as was the cocktail area on the side of the premises. Julie, the manager, was absolutely wonderful, catering to our every need. She made the afternoon go so smoothly and she was so gracious. The string quartet on the porch during the cocktail hour added a level of Princeton sophistication. It was perfect. Also, Julie provided a list of vendors that the Peacock Inn has used in the past and they were a win/win. I highly recommend The Peacock Inn for a special occasion or just for lunch or dinner. Either way, you can't go wrong. Thank you Julie

We had my son’s small wedding at the Peacock Inn this past Sunday and it exceeded my expectations. Julie, the manager, was fabulous and made sure that everything went smoothly. She couldn’t have been more accommodating. The venue was beautiful and the food was delicious. It was a 10. I would recommend The peacock Inn for a special occasion or a very lovely dining experience.
