Ok so the bagels are pretty good. Crunch outside but a little dense than how I like it. But I definitely prefer AJ’s bagel in Victory garden. I don’t know how they got such a high ranking from publication. The reason why I am leaving 2 stars is because I had 2 dollar coins and other cash to pay for a dozen bagels and they didn’t accept the coins. Are they not US currency? Do they not accept quarters/dimes/nickels/pennies? What if I didn’t have any other cash or method of payments? Why are they discriminating against dollar coins? 😂

The only good thing about this Sinkhole nonsense is that I now get to stop at Alfa every morning on my way into work. The best bagels for miles and miles and it’s not even close. Always fresh with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. #3 rated in Jersey for a reason!!

Best bagel shop in Jersey as far as I'm concerned. My job takes me all over Jersey and I've been to many different bagel shops but nothing compares.

Bagels are not as good as they once were, staff keeps getting orders wrong, and they keep charging a surcharge not just on credit but on debit purchases WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES. We warned them several times and have now filed a complaint.

Clearly stated on the phone for home fries on two bagels and one without ketchup and both bagels had no potatoes and the one had so much ketchup. Paid full price for both. Not the first time this happened either.

Hate to have to do this but if you order from here you HAVE to check your order is right.

I stopped in for bagels only and I'm glad I did! The bagels here are delicious! Crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, just how a bagel is supposed to be! I'll have to stop in for either a breakfast sandwich or lunch... either way, if it's on these bagels I don't think I'll be disappointed! The BEST bagels in the area!

Stopped by today after a while. Tried to order chicken salad but they were out. Also ordered TEC which was great. ordered bacon and cheese on plain bagel. Came with egg that I didn’t order and then 2 pieces total of bacon on a hard chewy bagel. Then I see they charge a fee for debit cards. Yikes. Disappointed when so many bagel places around. Won’t be back

Great Bagels, crispy outside, just the right amount of gooey inside.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. This place is a joke. I ordered two bagel sandwiches with very specific instructions, and they couldn’t even get that right. I asked for a bacon, egg, and cheese, egg scrambled, extra bacon, and bacon well done. What did I get? A disgusting, barely-cooked pile of bacon that looked like it came straight from the farm to my bagel. It was so inedible, I had to throw the whole thing in the trash.

To make matters worse, when I tried to reach out, nobody answered the phone. After waiting an hour, I finally got through, only to be told to call back because they were “too busy.” Seriously? Maybe if you’re that slammed, you should HIRE SOME MORE STAFF or reconsider your career choices. If you can’t follow simple, direct instructions, you don’t belong in the service industry.

Sure, the bagels are great, but apparently, they’re being made by a team with the collective intelligence of a soggy paper bag. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere that knows how to listen and doesn’t treat customers like an inconvenience.

UPDATE: called back a final time asking to speak to management and was told there is “no one there” and that I could “come back tomorrow.”

So now I have to waste another day going down to that pathetic excuse of a store just to have someone HEAR MY COMPLAINT.

THIS PLACE IS PATHETIC. BRING YOUR BUSINESS ANYWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DONT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER AT ALL.

UPDATE 2 : It only gets worse. About 20 minutes after I was told I had to come in to speak with someone, a so-called “manager” finally decided to call me back. So what does that mean? Either the woman who answered the phone was too lazy to get a manager when I asked, or she was just a bold-faced liar. Honestly, either option fits the level of incompetence I’ve come to expect from this place.

Even after talking to this “manager,” it’s painfully clear that nothing is going to change. The staff here collectively couldn’t pass a kindergarten logic puzzle, let alone run a bagel shop. If you value your time, money, or sanity, go anywhere else for a breakfast sandwich. This place is an absolute disaster run by people who seem incapable of basic thought or effort.

I will no longer be ordering from Alfa Bagel. Their bagels are good if you get them as is. The minute you add any customization to your order, you can 100% of the time count your order to be wrong. Stop giving your money to this business and go to somebody that actually cares about their customers.
