This is place was packed on new years eve. We stopped to get a burger before we went to go see Stranger Things. A lot of screaming kids that night! We were fortunate to have a seat right in front of the fireplace cause it was a cold night.

Was here for dinner and ordered a porterhouse steak cooked medium rare. The first time it came out, it was grey inside and clearly well done, so I sent it back.
The second time, it came out completely raw, blue on the inside. I sent it back again.
The third time, the steak came out with plastic still on it. At that point, I asked for the steak to be taken back and removed from the bill entirely.
Despite this, it was brought out a fourth time, except this time it was a T-bone steak, a lesser cut, clearly not what I ordered, and it was attempted to be passed off as the porterhouse. I refused it.
I was still charged for the steak despite refusing it and requesting it be removed.
Between the inability to cook a steak correctly, a serious food safety issue, being served the wrong cut, and the refusal to correct the bill, this experience was completely unacceptable—especially for a restaurant charging premium prices.

Had lunch today and what was the worst two out of three items I've eaten anywhere. I ordered the soup special and it was saltier than the ocean. I returned it however they still charged me for it. Then I ordered the octopus and I've never eaten such a chewy piece of seafood in my life. I ate one of the pieces and just gave up. The only thing they got right, aside from the service because our waitress was absolutely lovely, was the milkshake I ordered. I figured how can a restaurant screw up milk and ice cream mixed together? And that's the only thing I enjoyed today. It was also cold as heck in the bathroom and I was told that the heater in the bathroom was broken. I don't think I would be back unless I went for their Oktoberfest specials.

We just went there for the first time and enjoyed it. Great place to watch a game and a nice place to bring family. Very reasonable priced food and drinks. Lots of Christmas drink and food specials. I enjoyed the onion soup and half turkey club. My wife had the margarita chicken sandwich. It was good. Had to bring half home it was so large. Bar can be a little loud but that's expected. Everyone was very friendly. I will definitely be back

You can always count on a good meal and friendly service. Enjoy the outdoor seating and casual atmosphere. Update: Concerned about the lack of concern the owner has for his customers when it came to their safety in the Black River Barns parking lot. The news worthy article that made ABC news and others when a man was taking pictures and leaving them for women in the parking lot. The response from mgmnt was awful. For the years they have been located in randolph (this location being there 2nd spot after moving from Millbrook) there should have been an urgency to put up cameras throughout the parking area for his customers safety, regardless to if he felt his parking area is safe or not. Very surprised and definitely disappointment.

Black River Barn is our favorite double-date spot—we go every month and are never disappointed. The staff is awesome: friendly, fast, and always on point. The food is amazing every single time, and you can truly tell everyone takes pride in what they do. Great people, great food, and a great atmosphere. You can’t beat it.
