Locally owned and operated. Super friendly service. Maybe not as good as Chinatown or Flushing, but definitely excellent for North Jersey!! Easy parking and nice interior too.

Authentic Thai food (I’ve been to Thailand). The flavor in their dishes are outstanding and I love that they have a lunch special. Even without the lunch special, they are reasonably priced and they have great portions.

I especially enjoy the Chiang Mai and basil dishes. They also give you hot tea complimentary.

Green Papaya is a BYOB Restaurant.

Vegetarian options: Tofu and vegetarian chixen can be added to your meal

Disappointing Experience

I rarely write bad reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. My wife and I were excited to try this place after seeing all the positive reviews, but it did not live up to our expectations for authentic Thai cuisine.

First off, the food had an unusual odor that was off-putting. We ordered the Red Curry, Drunken Noodles, and Basil Chicken, hoping for a delicious meal, but instead, we were met with disappointment. To make matters worse, I found a hair in my dish, which completely ruined my appetite.

We ended up leaving most of our food untouched, as we simply could not enjoy it. After paying the bill, we decided to find somewhere else to eat. If you're looking for genuine Thai flavors and a pleasant dining experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, this place did not deliver on either front.

I get from here whenever I'm in the area. Unique dishes and the quality is always awesome. Great local place that usually flies under the radar.

Pad thai was extremely bland, it had the colors but absolutely no taste. Pad see ew on the other hand was flavorful but noodles were very soggy. Big portions though

Ordered a chicken pad Thai and a mild red coconut curry. Both entrees had really rubbery chicken that lacked flavor. I would not recommend any chicken entree. The coconut curry was spicy although I ordered mild but the flavor was good.

Food is very fresh, lots of delicious veggies. My boyfriend is vegan and there are lots of vegan options on the menu -- this is one of our favorite restaurants. We usually eat one entree each while we are there and take one entree to go for the next day we like it so much! This restaurant is known for their crispy tofu. I think they have the best pad Thai and Tom yum soup. And different curries. It is BYOB. Service is excellent.

Vegetarian options: They can make most dishes vegetarian or vegan.

Do you want Asian food, but want something different from typical corner-Chinese food or sushi? Green Papaya won't let you down! Visit for Asian fusion (primarily Thai and Malaysian) and a refreshing fruit smoothie or milk tea.

We ordered Homemade Crispy Tofu to start, Malaysian Curry (mild curry with your choice of protein, veggies and coconut milk), and Pad Thai. Everything was delicious and recommendable.

The service was quick and friendly. The dining area is comfortable and with homey decor. Some might think that the tables are a bit too close. However, personally, I felt ok.

I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Don't hesitate to come by Green Papaya for a change of pace!

Came in for dinner on a rainy Friday just before 6, and it wasn't too crowded - but it seemed like a lot of people were coming in to pick up some takeout. I had the Pad Thai with beef and hubby had the Massaman curry with beef. Pad Thais are usually a hit or miss but this one was a hit! The flavor was perfectly balanced - not too sweet, salty, or sour. Plus, the portions are HUGE! We both ate a good amount of it and had leftovers for a small meal the next day. The Massaman curry on the other hand was a miss, unfortunately. I don't know if it traditionally has peanuts in it, but it was a little weird. It was also more like a broth, then it was a curry. It was very soupy.

I don't know about the curries here but it seems like they do noodles pretty well, so I definitely will be back for some more of that!

This was the worst south eastern asia food I had ever had, as someone have been to most of south east Asian countries. The curry had almost no curry taste. Papaya salad was the worst too, with very odd texture and no flavor. The taste of Sambal was fake at best.

Stopped in for take out. They treated me like a queen. They gave me tea while I waited. They were fast. Food was only overshowed by the outstanding service. Great place.
