My recent visit to Black Bull Steakhouse was truly remarkable. From the moment I entered, the ambiance exuded elegance. The steaks were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and the service was impeccable. Black Bull Steakhouse has undoubtedly earned its place among the best dining experiences I've ever had.

I would leave 10 star rating if I could...so to future customers, the owners of the Black Bull, the manager, and especially to our waiter "Tony" who we had the great pleasure of guiding, assisting, and serving our party last night. By the way I am 75 and my sister is 74 so we are not so easy to please! The Food: The steaks were incredible and your establishment leaves "Sear" and "Rare" steakhouses located in Wayne in the dust! Your restaurant will be our "go to place" for celebratory occasions and I am recommending your restaurant to all my friends and clients. Our Rib-Eye steaks were charred, seared and cooked to perfection for medium-rare and medium. We have been so disappointed over the years with other steakhouses that don't get this right. Appetizers we had and loved: stuffed mushrooms, rice balls with gravy, crab cakes, and a salad my very, very, picky 74-year-old sister raved about. "Tony", our Server and Bartender: He was kind, helpful, and so attentive as were the other servers & and bus persons who assisted Tony. HOWEVER...Tony was the star! I took two of my young friends to your restaurant to celebrate getting their marriage license (and also breaking the fast of Ramadan) as they are to be married within the next week. We were so thrilled that Tony spoke Arabic because it made it easier for this couple to order and ask questions. His demeanor and attention to our party was outstanding...we will definitely ask for him to be our server next time we eat at your restaurant. I was a server for over 20 years and when serving customers it's all about a server's attitude. Because I am a former server I lean toward being a heavy tipper for servers who go above and beyond and Tony deserved every dollar! The Ambiance and Environment of the Black Bull: Beautiful interior...just Perfect!

My only experience with Black Bull was this past Valentine's day; my wife and I went for dinner. The hostess seemed a bit unfriendly, but we were seated immediately and quickly greeted by our waitress, who was pleasant. We ordered the house Pinot Noir, which was rather nice. When attempting to place an appetizer order, we were told that appetizers must be placed alongside entrees, which was rather unusual and inconvenient. After deliberating more, we settled on stuffed mushrooms, which while not mind-blowing, were still rather nice. Unfortunately, this would be the highlight of the meal. Our entree (porterhouse for 2 and a lobster tail) came out in a timely manner, and initially looked nice. However, the steak was ordered medium rare, and came out blue. Despite being darn close to raw, the top side of the steak was charred, and the bottom was a dull brown with no sear or crust at all. The lobster tail was woefully overcooked, to the point of being dry and rubbery. Upon trying the lobster, we asked for some butter to help moisten it, and were delivered a slice of cold butter, presumably meant for the bread. Our mashed potatoes were dry and tasteless. The spinach and brussels were nice enough, but nothing to write home about. I will end this by saying I've never written a negative Yelp review in my life, and I also have a few years of experience waiting tables at comparable restaurants. I understand that busier nights can put stress on the regular workflow of the kitchen and front-of-house. My experience was beyond what I consider to be the range of acceptable, especially considering our dinner of one app, a shared steak, 3 sides and 2 drinks each was just shy of $400 after tax and tip.

Nice place! We came here strictly to see a bartender who had left Barka & enjoyed our meal & drinks at the bar. Started off with bourbon & ordered the meatballs, truffle fries, wedge salad, filet sandwich, & spinach artichoke dip. Our bill came to $99 as they have a great happy hour with 1/2 bar menu & drink specials. The regular menu had a lot of great steak & seafood options as well. The service was excellent & everyone there was very friendly. They have a very attractive dining room & a cool cigar bar in the basement! Plenty of parking & easy to get to from Rt 23 or 287. Definitely check it out!
Horrible experience, service was bad and food was disgusting. On top of that the server had the audacity to come back and ask for more money because he wasn't satisfied with our tip. We top based of service experience and food quality not just cause. Stay away, plenty of better steak houses with better pricing.

I have been about 5 times and plan to go back. The service is superb and the food is awesome. The pricing is like any other Steakhouse. High, but you are going to a Steakhouse, not BK so what did you expect? The ambiance is Steakhouse casual. You can eat in the Bar, Dining Room, or downstairs in the cigar bar. The last time we went we limited ourselves to Appetizers only and Salads. What delicious fun but a few days later I realize that I miss the steak and must go back. It does not suck to be me. Just a slice of Heaven in Passaic County. We are going back.
