The food was AMAZING as always, compliments to the chef and his staff. The wagyu appetizer with the caviar was a nice twist. For those that have never been; they start off with 2 types of home made bread with a sweet butter you can smoother on top. With that you are given a seasonal shot of soup ; ours was butternut squash(one of my favorites) and this one did not disappoint. The menu changes seasonally, always something on the menu for any pallet, even if the inner child fancy's a grown up truffle grilled cheese. From dry aged to A5 wagyu, fresh oysters to lobster, lamb chops to veal chops, chicken breast to Cornish hens you'll definitely find something to your taste no matter what menu you happen to get. Now as far as DESSERTS, save some room, desserts for one or desserts made for two (to share or not to share that is the struggle), chef inspired panna cotta, bread pudding , affogato, or even some good old ice cream; there's something for every sweet tooth. The place is quaint, small and comfortable. Just the right size to have that perfect dinner with that perfect someone. Enjoy
Overall, my wife and I thought the food was salty. Also for the price, the dishes lacked presentation. It was presented very simple- nothing that caught our eyes. Would we go back, probably not.
Beautiful venue and food. Our server was outstanding and bent over backwards to make sure we had a great experience.
Held a business dinner at The Saddle River Inn. All I can say is everything was excellent. The service, the ambiance and most importantly, the food. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Look forward to going back real soon.
Everything was wonderful and it's nice to have a place to bring friends and has become our neighborhood place.
Review: Dining at Saddle River Inn proved to be a deeply disappointing experience—especially given the fond memories we carried from years past. Where once we had enjoyed gracious hospitality and exceptional cuisine, this return visit offered neither. The tone was set immediately by an unwelcoming host, and unfortunately, the food did little to redeem the evening. Appetizers were acceptable but uninspired. Our entrées—lamb, pork, and Dover sole—lacked flavor, and the pork, requested medium, arrived overcooked. Dessert brought no revival; a tropical sundae, meant to be a shared indulgence, fell flat with ice cream that was grainy rather than creamy, and flavor combinations that clashed instead of complementing one another. Having driven an hour and a half in hopes of rekindling a once-enjoyable dining experience, we left with the conclusion that Saddle River Inn no longer warrants the journey. For the premium prices they command, the quality and execution simply did not measure up.
A Bergen County Staple that always delivers.....Fantastic on all accounts....Food, Service and Ambiance. Been frequenting for decades now and still delivering one of the best dining experiences around.
We haven't been to the Saddle River Inn in many years and the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone ordered different appetizers and main dishes and we were all pleased. The scallops, surrounded by vegetable, was scrumptious. My friend loved the ravioli dish. To end the meal my husband loved his affogato, and our friend loved his bread pudding. We were there after 8pm on a Friday and the restaurant was a bit noisier than we expected. We'll be back sooner next time!
saddle river inn is absolutely the best restaurant in the city in terms of culinary excellence the portions have gotten much smaller and the prices have gotten much higher. Im actually ok with prices just not the portions.
Not great. Unfortunately, the restaurant seems to be very impressed with itself. Modesty is not one of their qualities. A truly fine restaurant will make its patrons feel comfortable and treat them like guests in it's home. The attitude here, though not rude (apart from the somewhat cold and oficious front of house manager) is that you should feel lucky just to be here. The meal started off much in that manner. We waited quite a long time to receive our water, possibly because we ordered tap (much to our server's obvious disappointment), or possibly because of the confusion of having multiple servers, by name, and each giving us only half their attention. Then came the bread, where we were offered one small slice, because, I suppose, that this one small slice should melt in our mouths and feel like heaven on earth. Clearly, the establishment's idea of heaven is different than my own. The accompanying, perhaps 2 oz glass of pink gazpacho reduction was about average. The appetizers were just okay. The crab cake, though good, was slightly over salted, while the hamachi was pathetically small and drenched in a sauce that made me feel sad that the fish had died in vain. The watermelon salad was excellent, and the portion, though not generous, was of a decent size. I had the duck. She had the scallops. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck - though this duck appeared as neither. Two, rather small strips of very chewy meat, accompanied by two larger portions of delicious polenta. It made me think of seeing a Broadway show where you leave the theatre, whistling the scenery. Finally, (!!!) the scallops were of, almost apologetically, a decent size and though my wife didn't care for them, I found them delicious. Our waiter came to the table asking us if we had "room for dessert". Personally, I had many rooms. Though not prone to sweets, it was our 20th anniversary, and I have long

The servers at Saddle River Inn are unusually friendly and helpful. The ambiance is of a chateau in Vermont. It feels as if you have left NJ for a mini-vacation. We had the filet mignon, the lamb chops, and both salad specials. All were fabulous with spices to make each model memorable. A special place with special food and service.
My favorite restaurant of all time! Nick, Matt, Anthony, and the rest of the staff always make it a special evening.
Always a pleasure dining at SRI. Every aspect of the experience is executed with excellence!
This is the place to go if you truly want an upscale dining experience. Our waiter, Matt, is exceptional. Our food was immaculately prepared, and the quality and taste is just about as good as it gets. One of our favorite places to dine, if not thee best.
I was underwhelmed by SRI. Polite service and friendly at that, but food was not memorable in any way. Some crudo and carpaccio dishes felt very salty. Overall, I can't say I was impressed. I need more effort and imagination. Plus, it's time to get a liquor license. Honestly, I prefer their more low key sister cafe, SRI cafe, to them. Sorry guys! I do like you but the overall experience was ... well ... underwhelming.
