Nothing gets repetitious at SRI. From the menu, to the specials, to deserts, it always seem new and different, and that's a good thing. Combine that with excellent service and a Greenwich Village ambiance makes for a wonderful experience.
The food was very good, especially the butternut squash ravioli. The lamb chops were cooked right although it came to the table lukewarm (preferred pairing it with mushed or fingerling potatoes, instead of the white beans). Dessert was very good as well. The atmosphere was not as welcoming and friendly as expected, especially from a high end establishment such as this one. Romantic, cozy, great service. Loved the food. $370 for 4 people. Reservation was for 5:45. In exactly 2 hours after we were seated it was apparent they needed our table. I had just received my coffee. I didn’t finish it. Dinner was with old friends. Very disappointing that at no point did it feel relaxing. The pace that the food moves along is brisk and don’t expect to relax and linger with friends. This is a well tuned business.
