Kathiyawadi Kitchen

I ordered the Paneer Curry. The food was tasty, and the staff was polite. The portion size was a bit small for the $15 I paid, but I would still go back. You do need your smart phone handy, because there are no printed menus. You have to scan a QR code and go to the website to see the menu. Also, if you aren't familiar with Indian food names, you have to Google them because the menu gives you no clue. Do I want "Gulab Jamun"? Hmmm... not sure, really. It's a dessert, I've learned. And its tasty, whatever it is. Kathiyawadi is so authentically Indian, you have to be from the subcontinent to know what to order.

Best gujarati food I have ever tried in entire country. Authentic taste and very tasty and fresh food. Must only eat gujarati food here and no one else. They give fresh rotli with ghee and chash :). Dont foget to eat gujarati (churma) ladoo as your desert.

As a Venezuelan cook, this was a great flavor experience. Just wanted to keep diving into Indian flavors and of course to try something different. Kathiyawadi Kitchen hit the spot!

I had no expectations at all just because this is a new place I wanted to visit and see what’s going on with their cuisine, but once I tried the variety of flavors they put in one platter it was pretty complex (at least to me).

The quantities are nice for the price of the dish, even though, every side and breads are refillable!

The waiters took some time to walk me through about how it’s supposed to be eaten and made more sense to what I was looking for. Great attention!

Flavors were really rich and every bite felt like a trip. Highly recommended for those non-Indian folks who want to explore new flavors, have a humble but very complex dining experience.

We ordered Shrikand from here a week before we placed another order. For the first order they priced $5 for each of the small container we ordered. However, the week after when we placed an order for 5 small containers they decided to pack only 3 (2 small + 1 medium size container) which doesn’t equal to the 5 container, it can only equal to about 4. The management also priced us at $10 for small container totaling to $40. They doubled the price from the first week we order, which is fine that pricing can vary depending on the week. But more over, when we spoke about it, the management refused to tell us the discrepancies in pricing and the guy started talking to us in loudly in front of the customers. We kindly asked for refund and returned the ordered we placed. Don’t go to this place, not only they over charge but they also think there is no one else like them making good food. I recommend trying Kathyawadi Village in North Brunswick - there service and pricing are great and also does look into corrective actions - which can be Areas of Improvement for business opportunity.

Expensive for very average tasting food I guess we were expecting a whole lot more! The khadi and kichdi are worth mentioning! The Gujratis boast of a rich tradition of mouth watering sweets and yet we were served only the humble canned gulab jamoon!

I have been visiting US often for last 16 years and this is probably the best Veg food I have had outside a home.
Good taste. Quality of ingredients was good.
You just can't resist overeating...
Buttermilk on table is a great traditional idea..
All in all great experience...
A bit pricey but with super specialisation... It's justified for occasional visit.

This place was recommended by so many of my friends in NJ for authentic Kathiyawadi food. I would 100% agree. Loved the food and service. Owner Vimal bhai personally inquired with us about food and Service. Offered samples of Fafda ( super yummy) and Jalay bhai made sure we get fast service and refills for our Kathiyawadi thali. Thank you very much, would love to visit again!

I recently visited and while the food was good the service was extremely disappointing. The overall dining experience was ruined by the unprofessional behavior of the manager.

Halfway through our meal, the servers started telling us that they’re busy and have a lot of people waiting so if we can wrap it up. We were a group of 10 and were there for a total of 40 minutes. The servers came a total of 4 times asking us to hurry up. We had a kid with us who was not finished so we asked the manager if we can take his leftover rotlo to go to eat in car so we can empty the table. He started screaming at us and said we were already there for too long and he has so many people waiting and we can take whatever we want as long as we leave. He yelled very rudely in front of all customers telling us rule is 50 minutes which we were never told before and we were only there for 40 minutes. This created a very uncomfortable atmosphere and made us leave right away.

Good food alone doesn’t make up for bad service. It’s unfortunate that such a great kitchen is overshadowed by the lack of professionalism from the management. I hope they reconsider how they treat customers, as this could be a much more enjoyable place with a better attitude towards service. I’m for sure never going back.

**Terrible Service and Disrespectful Behavior**

I’m not one to leave negative reviews lightly, but my experience at Kathiyawadi Kitchen was beyond unacceptable. After waiting patiently for a table, we were seated but barely acknowledged by the staff. It was clear the restaurant was busy, which we understood, but things took a turn for the worse starting mid dinner. Most of us were done with our dinner except for the children on the table. They brought the check to us while the kids were eating. I paid the bill as requested. As soon the bill was paid, the waiters started coming one by one asking us when the kids will be done. We were asked to leave because they were "too busy" to accommodate us. Apparently they only had a “50 minute” dining time, while we were there for 40.

Being kicked out of a restaurant simply because it’s busy is something I’ve never experienced, and it shows a complete lack of professionalism and respect for paying customers. If a restaurant can’t manage its capacity, it should be up to them to control the number of people being seated—not to treat customers this poorly once they’re already seated.

I strongly suggest finding a place that actually values its patrons instead of wasting your time and treating you as an inconvenience. We certainly won’t be coming back.

Did I forget to mention, my bill was close to 300 dollars for 8 people.

Forcing customers out mid-meal, especially with a kid still eating, is outrageous. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values decent service! They have a 50 min timer (which you cannot see anywhere) apparently but they forced us out in under 40 mins. Mr Vimal was the one who was extremely rude.
