Food was excellent, we were celebrating a birthday which was never acknowledged. I i had the request on the Open Table reservation, and were asked by the waitress if we were celebrating any birthdays. But, we made our own party! My daughter in law went and asked for 5 hats, and we had fun! Didn't help that we were seated with duds! lol Lobster was excellent, as were the steaks and scallops.
Brian always takes care of us. No matter how long it has been since we've been in he greets us with a warm smile and double check that he remembers our order (he does). Great location, great staff!

We had an 8:30 PM reservation to celebrate my sister’s birthday, yet we were not seated until 10:00 PM. After being seated, we waited another 30 minutes without service and ultimately decided to leave at 10:30 PM.
What made the situation especially frustrating was that a table behind us, who arrived after we did, was seated and served before us. No clear explanation was provided, and management made little effort to remedy the situation or acknowledge the inconvenience.
This completely ruined my sister’s birthday. She stayed up waiting and had an early nursing shift the next morning, which made the experience even more disappointing.
A reservation should mean something, especially for a special occasion. Based on this experience and the lack of accountability from management, we will not be returning anytime soon.
***Update, no one ever called me or my brother back from benihanna (see their response below). Major disappointment.

The bartender needs help to make a Cosmo!! It was not good...I should have sent it back. As for the appetizer, it happens quite often that it doesn't come out till AFTER the cook has started to cook!
Slow as hell
This was the absolute worst restaurant experience I ever had. We arrived for my birthday celebration with a party of 10 and a reservation. It was crowded, noisy and chaotic. An hour after we arrived, we were still waiting to be seated. It was more crowded and chaotic. The hostesses gave us no information about being seated. It was grossly overbooked. This is not how you run a restaurant business. There was absolutely no regard for a positive customer experience. We ended up walking out eating at a nearby burger joint. Don’t waste your time and money on this crap chain.

Great food, amazing chef skills, and very nice service from Helder!
The best food/ show in town. Chefs are well trained and provide enjoyable entertainment, whilst they prepare a fantastic meal that always includes their signature fried rice, protein and fresh vegetables.
I was shocked at how expensive the meal was. This is way more than any sushi/hibachi place in the area. Alisha (server) was awesome and is the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

We had a 4pm reservation specifically because we had our toddler with us. We didn’t get seated until 4:40 and then the food didn’t start cooking until 5:10. No communication by the hostess. They waited for our table to be filled before starting to cook which just seems unacceptable.

We usually love Benihana, but unfortunately our experience on Saturday, January 10th was disappointing. We had a 5:45 pm reservation for four adults and two children. When we arrived, the waiting area was extremely crowded, and despite having a reservation, we waited over 40 minutes to be seated. That feels unacceptable, especially with young children. Once we were seated, our order was taken promptly, which we appreciated. However, the chef made several mistakes during the meal, and the entire experience felt very rushed, likely because the restaurant was running so far behind. Overall, it seemed like the restaurant was overbooked, which negatively impacted the experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of our usual expectations. We'll definitely think twice about coming on a Saturday night again
Top notch everything from seating, service & delicious food. Really catered to our experience

Benihana is amazing. It's a tad expensive but definitely worth it and a good time. I love the food.
If I could give this place a zero star rating I would. The absolutely horrendous service that this so called “restaurant” has given our party is nothing short of abysmal. In fact it was so bad that I would rather have eaten at McDonalds for this below subpar experience that I had to endure. Because at least I can get SERVICE and FOOD at McDonalds. And it would be at the very least satisfactory if not pleasant for the price. I couldn’t get jack squat at this waste of commercial real estate. It’s below subpar. In fact I would have to say that they have to work just to be at a subpar caliber. Because Subpar would be an improvement for this place. This is literally the Amy’s Baking Company of hibachi steakhouse establishments.
But to truly convey my disappointment one has to start at the beginning. We had an 8:30 reservation for benihana to celebrate a birthday for one of our friends. It was supposed to be a very festive and special night for one of our entourage members but what SHOULD have been a wonderful experience was basically equivalent to that of the Hindenburg. What was an 8:30 reservation turned into a 10 pm seating. Then that 10 PM seating turned into another hour wait before our order was finally taken only to WAIT even longer for our chef to finally appear at our table. So by 11 pm we finally had enough and decided to leave. And mind you THAT is when the chef decided to grace is with his presence. Mind you that our friend had to work a VERY early shift the next day at the literal crack of first light. So she left her own birthday dinner without getting any sort of dinner, a ruined new year, and the real kicker here is that multiple tables that were seated AFTER us, were served BEFORE us! Explain to me how that works again Benihanna of Short Hills aka The Tommy Wiseau of chain restaurant establishments? How do multiple tables that were seated AFTER our table gets service BEFORE us? Make it make sense will ya?
Now before I finish my review of this place I want to add a few things. The staff was nice. The lady who came and took our order was very kind and she was doing the best she could with this poorly run eatery so I want to acknowledge the friendly staff that was kind to our party. And even she apologized for how things went south. Because they were. I can’t fault them for doing their job and trying to do what they could with the cards they were dealt with. The hostess was also very apologetic and understanding to our discrepancies as well. As was the other hostess that was there as well. I can’t thank them enough. In fact they were even kind enough to help us find anything that we might have left behind. The wait staff in general was very kind to us and I want to acknowledge them. And I thank them for being the VERY small silver lining in this disastrous of a dining experience.
To the higher ups running this place? I want to say be better, but to be quite honest with you, I don’t think your posses the ability of self improvement.
