Not sure I can say enough about this place. Whether I am going for a couple drinks or for dinner, I always leave happy and satisfied. This last visit I brought a bud from out of town and we sat at the bar for dinner, had a couple drinks and a great time. Tiffany is a super friendly bartender and makes a proper Old Fashion. And the outside dining is always a treat, last visit they had great live music outside. Here's a little secret....try the Nonni’s Sunday Chicken dish...it sounds like something you would skip over on a restaurant menu....don't, and you'll be back for it again soon!

This place beats our French Place in Montclair with a BURGER & imagination with its menu. The cocktails are declious as well. It's NYC meets NJ in a quaint little room. Beats Grandcentral Bars in Grandcentral next to a train. Loved the Margaritas there.

Normally, I stop at a gas station and get a quick bite to go on the road, but it was a beautiful afternoon and I decided to take my mom for a bite to eat .
Based on the reviews, we stopped at box car and it was a fantastic experience .

And the owner Shaun even stopped by our table. He was so kind and generous to us, sharing a little bit about the history of the restaurant, as well as showing general interest in us and our experience you could tell he greatly cares about the place and the attention is in all the detail details! They had live music outside a cool breeze inside with an awesome vibe.
I highly recommend. Authenticity and uniqueness are hard to find these days and this place has it all!

Box car has to be one of the coolest and best kept secrets. It is legit inside the Short Hills train station. Transformer meets cuisine. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve lived in the area for a couple of decades and have never had the pleasure of stopping in before. Well, today everything changed. From the time we walked in until the time we walked out everyone on the team here was extremely welcoming and spot on professional. We had the distinct pleasure of having Carlos take care of us tonight. He is the consummate professional, and went completely out of his way to make sure we were satisfied. He recommended amazing menu options. The cocktails and entrée were expertly prepared, truly delicious and made with the absolute finest ingredients. This place seems to be just getting better. Delightful small bar built in the old train station. Cool atmosphere that embraces the old station. Outdoor seating is always preferred. Occasional live music. Great burgers and best wings. We had the best service we can recall from waiter Frank. Just a great out of the way restaurant and bar.

We came to this place to enjoy some drinks with friends and it was so lovely. They had live music and a great atmosphere. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was such a great guy who went above and beyond for us. We definitely overstayed our welcome and were there entirely too late, but instead of kicking us out the door they made us feel even more welcomed and even cooked up some late night bites. Highly recommend this establishment and can’t say enough positive things about the management.

Great place for dinner. We had dinner with friends and everyone enjoyed the food and service. Diverse menu, yummy turkey burger, seared tuna appetizer was also great. Generous wine pours and attentive staff.Only complaint was folks were a little too eager to take our plates off.Apple blueberry cobbler was really good with a large ice cream scoop, warm fruit and crunchy top.
