I ordered 3 dinners with the whiting fish, baked Mac and cheese, collard greens and candied yams. Let’s start by saying the yams were plain, as if they came straight out of a can, the greens were spicy but not well seasoned, the baked Mac and cheese is not soul food max and cheese at all, it lacks favor and it tasted like plain macaroni with salt and pepper and small pieces of velveeta cheese, the fried fish was the best part of the meal, it was seasoned well, but fried very lightly. I would not spend this type of money at this place again, so yeah, I won’t be back nor would I recommend it. It’s not the cleanest place in town either.

Hubby loves this place. Fish platter with yams n Mac. I luv their collards when they aren’t chock full of meat, and potato salad isn’t bad either. Sometimes Mac is salty in my opinion and yams too sweet for me.
Vegetarian options: Sides without meat. I get collards but sometimes they have meat in them. Mac, yams and potato salad. Luv their black eye peas too, great flavor.

This is not soul food, I feel like this is false advertisement. This is Asian styled soulfood. I was very disappointed but I’ll give it 3 stars because it’s not the worse but fish wasn’t flavored enough for me. Yams were decent. But that’s all I can say really.

If you want authentic soul food, I wouldn't come here. The chicken here is not bad, but it is made Asian style. In other words, it tastes like fried chicken you would get at a Chinese restaurant, instead of at an authentic soul food restaurant run by black people. You would honestly be better off going to Royal Farms.

My first time trying this place. I ordered the fried shrimp basket (dinner portion). I got a side of fries, coleslaw and a cornbread. The food wasn’t bad, it was ok however; when I asked how many shrimp came with the platter “17” I was very surprised. Being optimistic I ordered and came back home to the tiniest shrimp I’ve ever seen in my life. I would much rather have 6-8 medium sized shrimp than this. Idk if I will return. Very disappointed!

The Mrs liked it on her visit, so i tagged along on her return. She got the grouper and shrimp, I think. I got the whiting sandwich...unfortunately, I think it got me! Had a rough night with it ? ?? but I survived. And of course, hers was okay! Overall, I will risk a return trip. The place looks pretty popular, so mine was probably a fluke.
