Tavern on the Bay in SP is a fantastic place to stay! The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re well-appointed and comfortable. The amazing location, stunning decks, and outstanding service more than make up for it! We will be back

Our group had a great time. Food was very good and our server was outstanding.

Several of the appetizers on the menu were not available. Our appetizer of truffle fries were merely frozen fries that can be purchased for $4/bag. The chicken wings were frozen and although they can be quite good, these were not. They were old - perhaps thawed and refrozen? The entrees weren't any better. The linguini with clam sauce was tasteless - no garlic, no olive oil, and swimming in what appeared to be the clam juice as if they had opened a can of minced clams and dumped it on the cooked linguini. and the shrimp in the stuffed shrimp was tough. All of it was only marginally edible. We left it all on the table untouched except the few bites taken to learn that the food was not good....and certainly not worth the cost. We left the server the 20% tip - she tried - and paid full price for the meal. The server didn't question us when we asked for the bill and refused take-away containers, and there was no offer to replace or comp. Over priced and under standard. An expensive bitter disappointment!
09/01/24 Service was way too slow. We waited 15 minutes after we sat down to give our drink order. Food is just so so.
Great location-and they accommodated our request for by the window. Service was not good-did not clear plates in between courses. Never refilled water glasses. Didn't clear dishes before coffee and dessert. Server tried to be pleasant but seemed over his head. In fact, didn't ask if wanted coffee or dessert. Lingered a little bit with our friends and the owner? Manager? Kept standing in the doorway making us feel uncomfortable. If they had cleared the table maybe we would have left sooner. Food was ok.
We were there tonight and four of us ordered filet mignon three of the filet mignon came out totally roll. They served muscles on a salad plate. Three of us didn’t even eat the fillet and they would only take two off the bill for the last seven years so disappointment never will go back.
Won't be going back that's for sure

Long wait time, first was not good
Waited for long time, food came out cold, sever was mean
Service was lovely, food was alright, lovely space and outdoor dining was fun. Not only was our server, Tracey, great, but you could see that the other servers were just as attentive to their tables.

We made a reservation on 8-7-24, which , unfortunately wasn't needed. The height of the summer season, and only 2 tables at 7P were filled. There were 2 other people at the bar besides me amd my husband. We had a cocktail at the bar, fine, until my husband wanted another beer. He waited and waited. The bartender was too busy chatting with the 2 gals at the other end of the bar to notice us. So we left and went 2 blocks down to DOCS. The place was hopping with a 40 min wait when we arrived. The bartender was very busy, but, attentive to our request. Awesome service!
We got seated in 30 minutes, ahead of schedule, and had a professional waiter who was spot on! We will definitely go back to Docs!
I wonder...... does Dr. Troki still own Tavern on the Bay?! THAT would explain EVERYTHING! It's a BEAUTIFUL building.... it could be another 'Steve and Cookies ' under different, professional management! Good Luck

Tavern on the bay is a great place right on the bay. The owner Sam and his nephew Jesse treated us with respect and the manager Caleb was great. I don’t understand the thought behind the recent reviews and they simply aren’t accurate. Great place will be back!

The worst food I have ever eaten. Do not come here!! We sat down and the service was very good but the food was inedible. The rolls somehow made us sick. The fries were soggy and the salad looked like rabbit food. The ceaser salad was mediocre at best and the salmon gave me food poisoning. The mashed potatoes were sickening. To top it off, the meal was $86. I payed to get a stomach ache. The place has great potential but could not be worse food-wise. Please avoid at all costs.
*THIS PLACE IS A HARD NO*
OVERPRICED FOR LOUSY FOOD.
ON A SCALE FROM 1-10, it's a -5.
THE CALIMARI WAS RUBBERY, AND THE COD FISH SANDWICH WAS GORDON'S FISH FILLETS ? YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN ?
ON A BRIGHTER NOTE, THE SERVER WAS VERY GOOD ??
