So grateful to Café Picasso for making my birthday dinner last Friday night a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was above and beyond! It's dimly lit inside which made reading the menu a bit challenging. However, everything we did order made up for it! I highly recommend the Frittura di Calamari for an appetizer. The following dishes we ordered were spectacular! Rigatoni alla Vodka, Penne alla Grotta, Gnocchi Alessandra, Norwegian Salmon (special), Penne al Forno, Spaghetti alla Carbonara and the Pollo alla Francese! It is a BYOB establishment, luckily there is a wine and spirits store next door. My family will definitely be returning to this beautiful gem in the heart of Somerville!
Ordered pasta e’fagioli soup through DoorDash. The soup contained no pasta - not even a single noodle. There was such a small amount of broth and a ton of beans and veggies - that’s it. Very disappointing for the high price. Will not be ordering again.

Café Picasso is one of our local favorite restaurants because of the triple combination of excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Tonight, we tried appetizer, Carciofi Alla Sofia (breaded artichoke hearts stuffed with dried cranberries, Gorgonzola cheese, and herbs served in a light pink cream sauce over arugula). Wow, so delicious. Their soups are hearty with generous portions. Our server, Michael, was exceptionally gracious and attentive. The vibe is warm and lively and it is not uncommon to hear the chefs singing in the kitchen. You won’t be disappointed.

A little disappointed.I asked the server if they had lunch specials,I think he said one minute.Asked again and realized he had a limited knowledge of the English language. On the way out saw they had lunch specials.Order off menu, shrimp and scallops and mushroom over cappelletti, it was very tasty but only 2 small shrimp and 2 small scallops.Wow.
I had the most horrible experience. I ordered spaghetti without any meat. After tasting it I made sure that it is without meat with our server as I could taste fish. He confirmed that there is no meat but I found pieces of fish and showed it to the server and then he just said yes it’s fish. He didn’t apologise at all. That’s just a bad experience. Also even though there were tables in the front we were given a corner table with mosquitoes. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all.

I came here with my boyfriend because I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant. They have a metered public parking lot across the street and down about a block on the opposite side. There is limited street parking. If you come with someone handicapped it’s best to drop them off in front and then go park.
Cafe Picasso has some outdoor seating.
Upon entering I noticed a Gelato case with several different kinds of gelato in it, and a dessert case with a delicious assortment of cakes and goodies. Then as you walk towards the dining room you have an Expresso/ Cappuccino Bar with some seating.
Cafe Picasso has some unique decor with warm and cozy feel to it. They have ornate high back chairs and on the walls they have different types of paintings.
We were seated up front across from the open aired kitchen. It was really cool being able to watch Chef Carlos preparing everyone’s food.
I was very impressed with the staff, especially my waiter Mason. He has been working here for 15 years along with Brandon our server. Both were very well trained, attentive, and very knowledgeable. All the staff work together to make this place run very cohesive and smooth.Cafe Picasso is a BYOB Restaurant.
I started with Frittura Di Calamari-
Lightly breaded and fried calamari served with sweet marinara sauce. The Calamari was light and very good. The marinara had wonderful flavor and was a nice accompaniment.
Next came a House Salad that was lightly dressed. We were also served hot bread with dipping oil.
For my entree I chose Pollo Alessandra- Pan seared chicken breast with sun dried tomatoes, shitake mushrooms and portobello mushrooms topped with fresh mozzarella finished in a marsala demiglaze sauce.( my pic doesn’t do justice bc too much grated cheese was sprinkled on it.) My dish was delicious and the presentation was uniquely displayed.
My boyfriend chose for his Entree Pollo Marsala- Pan seared chicken breast with shitake musfrooms, porcini mushrooms and cremini mushrooms finished in a homemade marsala demiglaze sauce. He really enjoyed his meal.
We were both stuffed so we didn’t order dessert. I did order a Cappuccino and it was really good and made well.
Cafe Picasso has two rooms they can host a party. One room can accommodate 36 people. The other room can accommodate 50. Call ahead to book and get info.
One of the owner’s Lorenzo came over and asked how everything was. He was very friendly and we told him we really enjoyed our time here.
I would definitely return to try some other dishes that also looked great!
Parking: There’s no handicapped parking out front. Limited street parking and metered parking lot is a block away
Wheelchair accessibility: There is no handicap parking directly out front. It is best to drop the person off and then go park in the lot or if you can find it street parking.

Bread and appetizers were very good. Entrees were smothered in sauce. Each dish was almost like a soup rather than a pasta dish. Will give it one more try but it was hard to enjoy with so much sauce.

I was walking in Somerville and wanted to grab lunch. Then I saw a sign with lunch specials at Cafe Picasso for under $10! I got the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was delicious and so much left over I took it home. They brought over complementary bread and olive oil and my water had an orange slice in it. The restaurant is beautiful and has an upscale feel to it. I will definitely be back for this great deal!

The food was pretty good, I had the chicken Parm. However, the waiter's attitude was simply too rude. But the food runner was very polite and helpful. It's a shame because the food was actually pretty good.
