Phenomenal experience - all aspects: food, service and a lovely chat with the owner. Even serenaded us with Happy Birthday on the piano.

Food and service were excellent! It was a Monday night so very quiet. We enjoyed several apps, entrees and a dessert. Would definitely recommend. FYI There is parking behind the restaurant, or street metered parking out front.

Da Filippo is a gem. Food was excellent; service was superb. They go out of their way to provide a beautiful atmosphere with the utmost hospitality. Highly recommend.

Perfect dinner with friends. Owners were so welcoming it seemed like we were in their home. Menu is varied but not overwhelming. They easily accommodated special requests and each of the dishes were excellent. During dinner the owner played piano and sang. Again, it was perfect and can't wait to return.

Everything was incredible, my boyfriend surprised me with a birthday dinner here and everything from the meal to the owners was lovely. The owner (Filippo) and chef came out and played piano and sang, his wife (Berti) was beyond hospitable. Truly, authentically Italian. We will absolutely be coming back. We had the bruschetta, risotto, and paccheri alla francescana - it was all excellently cooked and so filling.

Amazing dining experience !!!! The food was fabulous; I had pork cordon bleu and my wife had tortellini. Both were phenomenal. The owner and his wife were incredibly gracious, warm and friendly. They made us feel very very welcome. (That is an understatement.) We can't wait for our next visit. I would HIGHLY recommend Da Filippo's for a special occasion or simply a memorably night out.

The food is phenomenal and the svc is top notch. They do a cavatelli with broccoli and chicken in a saffron infused sauce - it’s out of this world! The bruschetta is world-class too. It’s a bit noisy, but I can’t wait to go back nonetheless.

We were looking for a new place to dine to to celebrate a milestone birthday and selected this place based on reviews . As we got to the place we were all in doubt and speculated if we should go in . But our speculation turned out to being a spectacular find.

Don't be in doubt by the inconspicuous location and outside . Walk in to discover some authentic Italian ( Sicilian ) food.

A home style restaurant with cozy yet spacious quarters with an old world Italian charm.

An engaging couple Chef Filippo Russo and his wife are the owners. They clearly love food and entertaining. This place was opened in 1988 making it the oldest Italian restaurant in Somerville .

Bertha (Berti) who is the Chef Russo’s wife was the hostess and our server . She is a bundle of energy and kept us entertained with her charm and warmth.

We tried quite a few items and loved every one of them as it offered something special .

Shrimp pasta was our groups pick of the day and it didn't disappoint. Jumbo shrimp with semolina pasta and peas.

I picked the fresh cavateli with marinara and sausage - I highly recommend it .

Pan seared Mahi Mahi was delicately flavored well seasoned with fresh flavors.

Profiterole and Millefoglie were our desserts.Profiterole was the star and we ordered a 2nd one to satisfy our greed .

Chef & Owner Filippo Russo played the piano and sang for the guests and a special birthday wish for our table top . He is Sicilian and his food reflected the fresh flavors of the island .

Overall this place stole our hearts in every aspect. The food , ambiance , the owners.. it is a place to celebrate with family and friends.

This is a delightfully old-school, quiet restaurant that nice avoids the bustling nature of so many new places. Chef/Owner Filippo greets guests personally, and prepares delicious and creative Italian cuisine. We have been coming back for the past 20 years to this wonderful establishment. The owner's wife Francesca goes out of her way to make each guest feel welcome.

I went here for Date Night with my girlfriend and loved it. The ambiance was great and the food was even better. The Chef and staff were super nice and fast with the food and the drinks. The Chef's Choice menu was amazing. We will definitely be back for another date night! Thanks Chef!
