King Tut graciously accommodated our large group of 25 people for my son's baptism celebration. They excelled in managing the gathering, and the food exceeded our expectations with its delicious flavors. Their attentive staff ensured everyone was satisfied and well-fed. The high-quality food, prepared with passion, along with the delightful desserts, truly impressed us. I highly recommend King Tut in Somerville, New Jersey.

Owner/chef came to our table to tell us about the menu options. Appetizer plate came out right away, which was probably the best part of the meal. We waited over 45 minutes for the entrees. The traditional Koshari pasta dish (vegan) was rather dry, despite the "sauce" mentioned in the menu description. We were only told when the bill arrived that the credit card machine was broken, so we had to go across the street to get cash. Probably won't be back. The best part of the experience was the ethnic decor and sitting at the open air windows near the front of the restaurant.

Lunch ended on a disappointing note. I made a reservation for 8 on Mother's day. Aside from it taking a while, we all enjoyed our food and the experience was good. Then the bill came out... The server came back to gather payment, noted we put a card down, and stated their machine wasn't currently working. They were accepting cash, check or zelle. I asked why we werent notified earlier as we had been there for 2.5hrs at this point. No explanation. On top of it they automatically added 20% gratuity when the menu listed 18%. When I pointed it out I was told they can adjust it and that their menu was outdated. Felt deceitful.
We sat down and the waiter said that the food was going to be a “little late”. We ended up waiting for 1 hour 30 minutes with only our 3 appetizers. The place was not that busy with only 2-3 other tables.

I am from Egypt and know the cuisine very well. King Tut is a perfect 10/10! I had the King Tut lamb shank tagine & my wife had the scallops stuffed with crab in a saffron crème sauce! ?. We also shared the mezze appetizer for two - best falafel in the whole country!!!

We went here last night to celebrate my friend’s birthday, I have been a few times in the past and have always had a wonderful experience. But after last night I will never be back.We were seated quickly as there was only one other person dining at that time, so it was pretty quiet and went as normal.within maybe 15 minutes the other person at the table next to us went to pay and seemed flustered. We couldn’t really hear but she was saying I live just down the street and asking if they take other electronic forms of payments, Zelle etc. After she left me and my friend whispered about how can you go out and eat without any way to pay… well it all made sense later. We had a great meal, our waiter was really nice. But when I put my credit card down to pay, an older gentleman walked over and said we have a problem. That the credit card machine was broken. I was surprised and a little panicked so I just said back “so no cards at all?” He replied back that the machine has been broken for two weeks now, and they can’t figure out how to fix it.Now that’s when it didn’t sit right. I understand an oops, same day I don’t know what’s going on thing, It happens. But when he says two weeks I immediately asked him if there was any signs posted at the door or when you walked in the lobby that I missed. Because nothing was ever said when we were seated and I noticed on the front door they had the clear stickers of what credit cards and payments they do except right there. He just ignored my question and kept saying oh it’s been broken for two weeks I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I asked again if anything was posted or verbally stated saying that they aren’t excepting card payment, and he said back was we do accept checks, avoiding my question again.so clearly I felt I wasn’t getting anywhere with this. Luckily, I did have enough in cash to pay the bill, but not enough to tip the waiter properly. I feel terrible for the young boy that waited on us, but that experience was unacceptable. I handed the money over to the older gentleman and told him that this is something that should’ve been stated when we sat down, not at the end of our meal. And know looking back they probably did the same thing to the lady that was eating there when we got there. The food was good. The waiter was friendly, but that experience and putting us on the spot at the end like that felt very shifty and I will not be going back after that.

When we tried calling to make reservations, there was no answer many times. Eventually, we got a call back and we made reservations for lunch. When we arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, they were closed even though we had a reservation and the website states they are open for lunch on Tuesdays. I would suggest calling before making a trip here.

The owner/chef is extremely personable and enthusiastically describes each special of which there are always many. The menu is merely a starting point. All of the ingredients seem so fresh and make each course a wonderful experience. Everything is made to order and meal place is leisurely, so be patient. It will be worth the wait. Here, you must really save room for dessert, they are all interesting and delicious.
Parking: There is a lot behind the businesses here (lot 6) enter from Bridge Street and walk through very nice alleyway.
Wheelchair accessibility: Sidewalk level entrance and plenty of room inside.

Went here over the weekend. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had hummus and mushroom soup. They have so many different specials, including appetizers. We ordered the sole with vegetables topped with falafel, and the kebob special. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The chef and owner, Khalid, is super friendly. He actually took a few moments out of his busy day to sit and chat with us. He even gave us dessert on the house! They offer a variety of desserts, which was delicious. We tried the pistachio cake, baklava, and pudding. Will be definitely coming back here again!

Very good food. First time having Egyptian food but it was quite enticing. It's a small quaint place but during pleasant weather they've got sidewalk seating which I think is awesome. I'm thinking it probably is a BYOB but you may want to call them to confirm. I did not see any liquor on the premises.
I was seated immediately and served by whom I believe may have been the owner or manager. Very nice man and very helpful.
