My husband and I tried the macaroons, and they just weren't good. The place is cute

Absolutely incredible! Delicious coffee, incredible pastries, everything was so fresh and well made. Everyone was so friendly with our son, even though he wasn’t on his best behavior ❤️Can’t wait to come back! I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat!!!

We had high expectations for this place, but sadly were left unimpressed. The pastries were all visually stunning in their big white display cases, and ultimately we decided on a pear almond tart, a slice of Opera cake, a slice of hazelnut cake, and a couple of macarons. With the exception of the Opera cake, which was lovely and mocha-y, everything else was just bland with very muted flavor, but also they all had a noticeable hint of what can only be described as refrigerator or freezer taste.
If I ate the macarons with my eyes closed I couldn't tell you what flavor they were meant to be, though their texture was excellent.
This place was a big miss for us.

Pierre & Michel Authentic French Bakery in Somerville is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the delicious aroma of freshly baked pastries and bread that transports you straight to France. The croissants are perfectly flaky, the baguettes are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and their desserts—especially the macarons and éclairs—are simply divine.

The staff is friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about their craft. Every visit feels special, and you can tell the ingredients are top-notch. If you're looking for an authentic French bakery experience, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Such a cute place and I'm so glad I tried it out! They had a great assortment of different pastries and drinks, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. We got an opera cake and a tiramisu and they were both delicious ?

If you are in the area, you have to stop by this french bakery. It is the real deal, an authentic french bakery ! The food is phenomenal; freshly baked and delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful; clean and spacious. I will be becoming a regular here !

The pastries here are the absolute best! This is my go to place for anything pastry and baked goods related. I come here so often and I am never disappointed by the delicious desserts available. My favorite is the fresh berry tart as well as the tiramisu!!! So creamy and perfectly sweet. The staff is super friendly and the environment is just so calm and peaceful. Overall, I recommend this place 10000000%

This place is a great addition to Somerville and I’m very happy that it has found its place here. There is much to say about this place, good and less good, no real bad.

I met the owner and her daughter early on, they were lovely. I wish them great success. I know they have at least on more store maybe more, I hope they have the bandwidth to keep the Somerville store at the top of it’s game.

The staff has always been pleasant enough. They aren’t overly welcoming but they are sufficiently pleasant.

Coffee is good though not very theatrical. They have a machine that just makes all the different types of coffee.

The pastries are for the most part very good. I don’t believe they make everything in house but I’ve never had anything that wasn’t tasty. I wish they focused more on the less decadent however, more madeleines, canelés, financiers, etc.

A few critiques…

Stylistically, I find the cafe is a little disjointed. The multi color barn wood on the walls was a miss. If they changed that to a solid color or a beautiful wall paper it would transform the place completely. Unfortunately the tables look like marble but aren’t real marble, while I fully understand the reasoning behind that, it does cheapen the experience a bit. The chandeliers look like they would be more at home in a saloon than in a French cafe. Sorry but true.

One of the biggest misses in my opinion is that they don’t do a baked ham and cheese croissant. They cut a butter croissant and add ham and cheese. I got one for my son, it was clumsy and ok at best. They also don’t really sell bread, HUGE miss. They have some baguettes but wouldn’t it be lovely to be able to buy warm French bread in Somerville.

I write all this not to hurt the cafe because I do go there quite often and like it very much. I think that they could go from a good cafe/pastry shop to a great cafe/pastry shop in just a few steps.

An addiction!? Very rare you find a business with great atmosphere, awesome service and authentic food all at the same time. Cozy seating for yourself and a guest.
