The food was REALLY Amazing! The people we came across who worked here seemed less than enthusiastic. I'm all about customer service, so I will not likely return

PROS: Amazing place that was built in the 1840s and was a home, school, prison, and more throughout the years. Looks old in and out of it while the restaurant extends to the basement as well. nice food, well priced, good variety, atmosphere is amazing, staff is friendly CONS: Parking is extremely scarce as their lot is only 6 spacious. You must also make a reservation for dinner otherwise you're gambling to get a table OVERALL: You must come here if you're in the area. This is THE place to come to, to eat!

This place NEVER disappoints! We always order the same dishes.. we go in saying we’ll try something new and can’t bear to not get out favorites… duck fat fries, drunken clams on fire, truffled pork pizza. The drinks are always on point as well. It’s a very warm family friendly place. It feels like you’re in someone’s basement .. in a good way.

I don't like leaving bad reviews of local spots but I have had nothing but bad experiences here with the hostesses and I've give the restaurant 3 tries. The first time we went was last year for New Years Eve. We came to have dinner and had a dinner reservation at the Tapastre and the hostess had her back turned to us and would not turn around to acknowledge us. Thankfully a waitress came over to help us and got us seated. Then we went during the summer for their happy hour menu which they posted on Instagram and specifically asked for the happy hour menu but the hostess just said to pull it up on Instagram so we did and ordered food off of it. When the bill came, we were charged full price for all the items. When I asked the hostess why, we were told it's because Happy Hour ended at 6pm and even though we ordered all the food before 6pm, we didn't ask for the check till 6:15pm. So then we went yesterday since it was too cold to watch the parade. We tried going to Project Pub upstairs and there wasn't a hostess or waiter in the front so we waited a bit to see if anyone would come out but nobody did so we went to go to the bar. The hostess comes running over out of nowhere and just repeatedly says "The bar is downstairs, go downstairs." I was trying to ask for a table but she just kept saying to go downstairs. On our way out, we heard a couple of women at a table ask if they needed to leave and the hostess said "No you guys are good." The food here is really amazing and we live just a few blocks away so we were hoping to make this our go-to spot since we're new in town but it's terrible to have these types of interactions.

Great selection of beer for a small local restaurant. A lot of care and attention is given to the preparation of the food. The menu is simple and concise and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Service is good, as they have ample staff to cover the tables. The place holds less than 100 people (I think fire code said 80 but I am not sure if I am remembering that correctly) so reservations are a good idea on a Saturday Night.

The worst service I have ever experienced . The staff are extremely rude and inattentive. I practically had to beg to order food, waited an hour, for it without any acknowledgment from the staff, and still no food arrived. They passed right by us without asking us how our drinks were or if we wanted another round. Drinks were terrible with a ton of ice. Would never go there again and would NOT recommend this dump to anyone.

Pretty yummy food, nice ambiance and plentiful parking. Went here for a brunch and was happy with the food and service. Service was prompt and food was good as well. Look forward to visiting again.

Great mixture of various types of food served in unique ways. I like that they offer shareable portions that the whole party can try. The drinks for the most part were tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and informative.

Not Tapas. Finger sized bar food. There is a difference. Everything was pretty bland.

Along with Project PUB, TAPESTRE has created its own space with a unique drink set up, as well as what I like to call a "speakeasy vibe." I love their food and service! @rissyjayeats

Despite the menu shrinking considerably since Covid, the quality of the food and the warm attentive service still shines.Bartenders are lovely, even offering personalized suggestions when the situation might call for it.It is a social atmosphere, which is becoming less and less common.I only wish the bar were larger and they were open a bit later as they tend to be packed. I came here with my wife, sister and brother-in-law. I'm really surprised I never written in a review for here as I have come here many times. The downstairs atmosphere is really chic, and just feels like a cool place to hang out. The staff here is always friendly which is an added bonus, because sometimes places like this they can be a little snooty. The food we ordered was really good and as a point of reference they will let you order stuff off the upstairs menu if you really like. My brother-in-law was hoping to have something from the upstairs restaurant but didn't remember which restaurant had it, and they told him it would not be an issue. They're cocktail list is on point, I ended up going with two of the same drink just because I really enjoyed it. The name escapes me, however it was very likely a gin drink with italicus in it. If you're perusing their menu It was the only one with those two ingredients. All in all I always love coming here. If you're in Somerville you should definitely check it out.
