I actually felt a bit discriminated. We had families go before us, we weren’t a big party and I’m such they could’ve took us. They called a party of the same size before my kids and I and when I questioned them, I was told to wait and sit. Very rude host and so disappointed after being here already couple of times.
Very disappointed by this place they made us wait a while even though we had reservations and even though that's understandable after they served us our dinner they literally gave us 7 minutes to eat didn't even ask if we needed anything else they just brought the checks and the to go boxes they said they were busy and they needed our table. It was horrible why take so many people if you aren't even going to let them eat? I would never go back, don't spend your money or time here.

We went for my children’s birthdays and were a group of 18 with a reservation for 7:30 in the private room. The room wasn’t ready and also after sitting us down we then waited more than half hour for them to begin the food cooking. Our chef JJ had a horrible attitude and did not make us feel welcomed and did nothing to make it entertaining. He did not answer when asked a question and ignored us. On top of that we were rushed horribly, they picked up so fast they took my to go container with them. They also gave the check before it was asked for and in the middle of us singing happy birthday t my kids! On top of that they smushed my kids cake when putting it back in the box! I do not recommend them for events to anyone!

NEW REVIEW: I had to update my review on Yutaka, as it is not the same as it once was. I'm not sure if there are new owners or what, but this place has gone down hill. It WAS once our family favorite, but that has changed in the past few years. Service is HORRIBLE, the hibachi experience is dull and lame, and the food isn't as good as it once was. Unfortunately this post Saturday was our last time going here. It's a waste of money for the quality of service and food. The staff that takes your drink order and gives you the bill RUDE!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Favorite hibachi in NJ. Ask for garlic sauce instead of the mustard or ginger dips, AMAZING!! Dip your steak into that, you won't regret it!!
Parking: Park on main Street or in the back lot
Kid-friendliness: The chefs show at the Hibatchi table is always the kids favorite! Also ask for the kids chopsticks
Wheelchair accessibility: Park.in front and there's no steps

Visited for hibachi dinner with my wife. Waited about 30 mins for enough others to come to fill a table.
Sushi rolls were good.
Soft shell crab was unique!
Dumplings were alright.
They do NOT have yum yum sauce! First hibachi restaurant I have been to that didn't have any! They served a Dijon mustard style sauce and ginger sauce.
Chef was alright, did vegetables last which I have seen before but not my preferred method. I like rice and veggies first while the protein cooks.
Wait staff was not very attentive once the chef started. They didn't clear our appetizer plates until we called them over because it was getting difficult as the chef started to hand out food. Had to ask for refills.
Seasoning on the steak/filet was good, but a bit dry as it sat on the grill for a bit before they added sauce to it.
Scallops were over sauced with similar sauce to the steak. Took over the flavor.
All in all, not bad, but not someplace I'd regularly choose as my hibachi choice.
Parking: Parking is around back and paid lot unless it is after hours.
Wheelchair accessibility: Very cramped area, not sure how well it would serve someone in a wheelchair.

It was dead silent in the restaurant. The server was nice but the food was not good and it was overpriced.

My husband, daughter and I went to Yutaka on Monday night to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Our server was very abrupt and rushed us through dinner, however we left a 20% tip on our bill. As we were exiting the restaurant, our server came running and yelling after us. I thought perhaps, we had left a phone or item behind. Instead, she came rushing out and yelled, “you didn’t leave me a tip? It was a lot of food!!” She showed my husband a receipt and it turns out that we had taken the wrong copy of the bill. I apologized and gave her the copy we had taken, which had the tip on it, and she grabbed it and stormed back into the restaurant, without even a thank you or an acknowledgement of her mistake. Her behavior was so extreme and probably led other customers think we had walked out without paying our bill. I’m so upset that we were treated this way. We have been going to Yutaka for years, but this was the last time for us! So rude and uncalled for behavior should not be acceptable towards customers!

We celebrated a family birthday at Yutaka Hibachi in Somerville, and it was an unforgettable experience! The chefs are incredibly skilled and entertaining, making the meal both delicious and fun. Everyone in our group was impressed by the quality of the food—from perfectly cooked steak and shrimp to fresh sushi and tasty fried rice.

The place had a very nice ambiance and the food was fairly good. The experience overall was pretty poor. We had to wait a very long time for our waiter to take our orders and we didn't even get water in the mean time. Also there was a minor language barrier with one of the waiters, which isn't a problem, but it took way too long for another waiter to come. The food was good, but their vegetarian selection was very small. The hibachi chef was great though and interacted with us a lot, and he really made the dinner better. Overall it was ok but I probably wouldn't come here again.

Was told to wait to the site for 10 minutes to be able to be seated to hibachi with me and my party. The workers then got on their phones and didn't check on me and my party for over 10 minutes of us sitting there. Don't recommend

This once-popular spot seems to be past its prime. The ambiance felt stale, with a lingering odor of stagnant water near the fountains. The food was decent, but the Hibachi chef's performance lacked enthusiasm, making us wonder if he's been in the game a bit too long. While the price for four wasn't outrageous (around $150 with tip), the overall experience wasn't enough to warrant a return visit.

Wouldn't come back. For starters, they have an online ordering system, but apparently they don't use that anymore our order wasn't ready when we got there.
We ordered takeout sushi- the standard rolls were ok, but the spicy rolls were awful. No flavor at all, and there was a big fish bone left in one of the rolls.
There's much better sushi places in Somerville- save your money and go somewhere else.
The food was delicious. We LOVED our hibachi chef Jesse, he was so sweet and fun!
