Amano Pizza - South Amboy

3.5 stars which is decent. We had ordered the margarita with extra cheese, broccoli & tomato slice, sausage roll, plain slice, and an upside down Sicilian slice. The best ones were the upside down Sicilian and the broccoli & tomato slices. They were ok/good, but the broccoli & tomato slice needed to be seasoned. The upside Sicilian slice sauce was very good, but the bottom was overcooked. Those two the plain slice and the margarita slices and weren’t that good. My husband didn’t care for their sausage roll. Overall we thought Amano Pizza was just ok.

The food is good when you actually get what you ordered. They've messed up the last 3 times. One time they dropped my pizza on the ground. Last week my husband ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and they gave him a buffalo chicken salad instead. Today my husband ordered a buffalo chicken pizza with Bleu cheese and when he went to pick it up they said he didn't order from that location and must've called matawan. He pulled out his phone to show that it was in fact the correct number. I was right there when he called. The person who took the order was named Mike. They said that they would make it but offered nothing to compensate for their mistake. My husband said he'd had enough of their constant mistakes and left with no food.

After I problem I had with my pizza order , John the owner reached out to me and sincerely apologized for everything and I greatly appreciated it . He did everything he could to make the situation right and that’s the Amano’s pizza I know . This is truly the only pizza place I love where I live , no other pizza places where I live ,hold a candle to Amano’s. Chef’s kiss to Amano’s pizza .

Amano has great customer service firstly. The price are reasonable and the food is delicious. Also one of my personal favorite spot to dine-in especially considering its close walking distance to my home.

I actually order from here all the time and ordered the chicken Ceasar salad pizza a few times too (don't judge me lol) I could have sworn there was cheese on it last time and called to see to make sure (always delicious) and I wasn't sure if I was met with a little disappointment or anger from the manager over my call. Wasn't trying to ruffle feathers as I made sure I gave a 15 dollar tip, I was just curious because I wasnt sure and it was a debate about it in the house. I felt as though the conversation went on the defensive side in the beginning. Will still order from here obviously but the conversation didn't pass the vibe check for a second LOL. It was just a question from a curious customer.
