Best bakery, hands down!!! Everything is delicious. The people are great. The service only suffers sometimes when they’re too busy.

A friend of mine told me about this place, and I genuinely enjoy the food every time I visit. It's one of those places that must be tried.. Great food

Wonderful italian deli clean and well lit, great selection of anything Italian you want to eat😁 Small meatball hero. The meatball was meaty and flavorful with a nice sauce that complemented it, it could have used a little more sauce. Just the right amount of mootz. The roll was fresh, but a little disappointing. Crust was a thin didn't have a lot of flavor.

Went to Clementes today and wow...worth the trip! Their Mozzarella was super fresh, just like their bread. The Italian Ham and Bologne was to die for. Cant wait to try the Sausage Bread later with dinner. The service was incredible and Vita is the best!!!!! Can't wait til next sunday to go back.

Amazing, friendly and the food is incredible and fresh. Vita was a pleasure and the fresh mozzarella is the best. My first time here but definitely won’t be my last. Thank you!

I am never going to this pace ever again. My boyfriend and I decided to get lunch there- big mistake. My boyfriend was order and this old man taking his order cut my boyfriend off, looked at me and said “what? You’re goi g to let him do all the work? They don’t want to do anything these days” I was so floored I walked out and waited in the car. The rudeness of that man ruined my day. The messed up thing is, I was going to order the Magdalena, until that staffer decided to be a jerk. Fire him.

Only taking online orders is ridiculous. Forcing customers to order online is inconvenient and out of touch. On top of that, the prices are way higher than what’s listed on your own website — that’s misleading and unacceptable. This business model is broken, and it needs to change immediately.

Their baked goods are NOT fresh. I spent over $30.00 and the pastries were all stale and disgusting. I was so embarrassed because I bought it to bring with me to visit family. So super disappointed .

UPDATE 5/31/25
It's perhaps no surprise, given New Jersey's huge Italian-American population, that an Italian sub would be the top choice of the Garden State.

As a household fixture since 1974, this establishment began half a century ago baking bread out of one brick oven. Now three generations run Clemente Bakery on Leuning Street in South Hackensack as an all-hands-on-deck effort in the family business where my partner and I came for lunch today.

Upon entering as regulars to this local favorite for baked goods, desserts, and the piled-high Italian subs on their housemade bread, we decided on the Bella Ciao hero with Roast Beef and Chicken Cutlet, Fresh Mozzarella, and Roasted Pepper on Wheat Wrap.

They are not cheap, but one gets what one pays for in terms of taste, freshness, and authenticity. The portions were a healthy size for another meal.

Clemente remains a big store full of counters of food and a small market with friendly staff. It is a one-stop place where one can get everything from a hot lunch to all the ingredients to make an authentic Italian home-cooked meal.

We continue to recommend it.

Old-school Italian spot you gotta try! Their Italian subs are packed and full of flavor, but the real magic is in their hot food — just make sure you get there before 2 PM because they always sell out. I recently got hooked on their “lenguas” — flakey flatbread with a super tasty tomato sauce. No idea what they put in it, but it’s addicting. Highly recommend!
