This was my first time going to El Toro and The only thing I can say is the Server's were really nice but the food was pretty bland..I had the chicken chimichanga and the presentation was nothing fabulous and the shredded chicken was a lil dry no special seasoning or spices to mention..I also ordered Shrimp fajitas to-go and the onions and peppers were waay overcooked along with the shrimp! I forgot to take a snap of that dish but all and all I did not enjoy my visit to El Toro and I will not be going again

I GENUINELY don't understand the hate for this place! A friend and I went yday and the vibes were immaculate, the food was super fresh and soo good. We def recommend the cocktails AND the mocktails there. Food wise, def try the birria if u like it, get the chicken and shrimp tacos and the pineapple habanero wings as well. I wasn't drinking yday and the bartender/waitress was such a queen and said "I gotchu" and gave me quite literally the best mocktail I've had so far. I think this place is going to be my next hangout spot for a while.

Their tequila-based drinks, chips and salsa (not free), chicken tinga tacos, and chimichangas are really good. The red salsa that came with the chips (homemade) was very unique and tasty.

The food was pretty good, we ordered chicken Taco's with fresh Avocado ? very tasty! The atmosphere was pretty lit that night. It was a Saturday night. Pretty good spot though. Music was a little loud, but other than that. Chill spot.

Great place for an after work drink or date night. Drinks are nice and food is filling. Love the atmosphere and service was spot on.

We were originally supposed to go to the branch of this Restaurant in Kendall Park, but found out that it had permanently shut down. So, we planned to come to this one, since they are both almost equidistant to our home. On arrival, we were extremely surprised to find it empty on a Sunday evening, --- except for three other occupied tables. We blamed the soggy and rainy weather for this, and proceeded to choose our own table. There are no more paper menus post-COVID, so had to order from the scans. This is not our preferred method, because we do not get to compare items while endlessly scrolling, but, Oh Well…! Our order between the four of us consisted of the Traditional Guacamole to start out, and two Chimichangas – one with Carne Asada and the other with Mixed Veggies, one Cajun Shrimp Wrap and one Buffalo Cauliflower Tacos. We topped all that with a pitcher of Sangria and ended the meal Churros con Chocolate. Every item was delicious. Service from Anthony was attentive, polite and friendly. Even though the music was a little too loud, we would like to return, since it is not a bad place to hang out casually with friends. Plus, there is lots of really great Artwork on almost every wall to admire.

Great atmosphere and great music, even tho the place was empty at 10:45 pm on a Thursday. We stayed at the holidayinn which is attached to the restaurant. I am a truck driver from California and travel the country my truck was getting repaired so i had to stay the night in the area. I got lucky finding this place that was still open .The food is great even tho the kitchen was almost closed they made sure our food was made right and tasted excellent. The chimichurri steak was delicious and the Toro margarita was also excellent. I definitely recommend !

They do have vegan options!!When we walked in they told us to seat ourselves anywhere- very casual and wasn’t busy. Interior was alright, honestly not my favorite vibesDrinks were big and strong- definitely would return just to drink!! We tried the vegan nachos and vegan portobello spinach quesadillas. Nachos were pretty good. The flavors were all there and the cheese was tasty. The only part about it i was concerned with is its authenticity and freshness. I love nachos with fresh cheese, pico, veggies… this one didn’t feel that fresh which was disappointing. The quesadillas did not taste Mexican at all- honestly tasted like an Italian Stromboli (they used mozzarella) which was interesting. It was necessarily bad but i wanted Mexican food, not Italian!Overall our experience was good but probably wouldn’t return unless they ensured a homemade pico! Definitely would come back for strong and tasty drinks!!

Great food and atmosphere! The nachos were delicious, as was my Loco Mac with short ribs. The rest of the food our table got also looked phenomenal. Not only that, but the waitress was really good with the 3 yr old at our table, bringing her oranges cut into a bunny shape. She loved it!

Vegetarian options: They had vegetarian and vegan options!

Kid-friendliness: Server was great with kids and the decor on the wall can be intriguing for some.

Food was delicious! We ordered the elotes, which we would highly recommend for anyone visiting. It's grilled warm corn with yummy dressing and condiments. I ordered chicken fajitas and my husband ordered short rib tacos (I believe it was called) - both were extremely delicious. We ordered the churros with chocolate for dessert and omg it was soooo good. I cannot remember the servers name, but she was extremely nice and pleasant. She constantly checked on us. The restaurant is a very nice ambience and very well kept and clean. The entrance is a bit tricky so please keep in mind. Hope this restaurant lasts a while! Im already craving the food. Will definitely be back soon.Oh they also had great fun music playing. And the art and decor is really nice as well. Great place for a date or to go out with friends. They also have a bar which we didn't use.

Vegan options! That was the most surprising part of our visit. The food was great, cool vibe and we met the owner who clearly cooks with love. Will be back soon

Dinner was good but the tacos were supposed to be like Mexico with 2 tortillas and it only came with one. I like the Diablo wings spicy but good,, and of course the beer was really cold like it's supposed to be

Went to S. Plainfield El Toro Loco today. To be honest, we were a little surprised at the lack of customers (around 5:30 - 6) but wanted to give it a try. Our waiter was Anthony who was very helpful. Asked about the Bronx Chimichanga and he recommended the verde sauce to have with it. My wife had chicken fajitas. Also had a large Sam Adams Summer on tap and an ice tea. The chimi had short rib as the meat and it was among the best I have ever had. The fajitas were also good but nothing special. The cilantro rice was very good as were the black beans. The number of customers did increase by the time we left. I would highly recommend el Toro Loco for dinner and I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

My daughter has a dairy allergy and it is a project going out to eat with her as most places don’t offer any type of dairy free option without compromising taste or rebuilding a whole meal or offering a dish that she just won’t/can’t eat. I heard that this location has a curated vegan menu so we had to go. Vegan is just easier to order than strictly dairy free. Let me tell you, I about cried when I ordered the Vegan veggie burrito bowl and she devoured it. It came with vegan sour cream, vegan cheese, and of course all her favorites like seasoned rice, beans, veggies, and an assortment of sauces she could eat. Before Dave took over it wasn’t as great but it’s a whole new restaurant now and if you were there before Dave than you have to try it again. The server (whose name I can’t remember) was so so nice and patient and accommodating and even topped off my margarita with what was left in the shaker (bless her). And every experience afterwards has been just as amazing. Both my kids light up when I say we’re going to El Toro because they love the food and the Shrimp Tacos, for me, will forever be my go-to. It feels like (and probably is) home cooking. Stuffed to capacity and delicious. Thank you so much for bringing such a new life to South Plainfield and the surrounding area as a place where all can eat and enjoy themselves!
