Love how they have a variety here. I ordered pistachio ice cream and it came with real pistachios

I'm so disappointed. I've been going to the causeway for awhile now. This is the 1st time I went where the ice cream is horrible, didn't get what I asked for,. Was looking forward to a great treat and sad to say just didn't do it. šŸ˜ž

My family and I enjoy causeway! I love that there is a drive thru. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. My mom would take us on ā€˜mystery rides’ and we’d end up at causeway! Such a fun past-time. I now do the same with my kids. We love supporting a local business.

Causeway Ice Cream – South River, NJ

Causeway Ice Cream is a hidden gem in South River that I can’t believe I just discovered after living in the area for 15 years. It’s an affordable, family-friendly spot offering both soft serve and about 30 flavors of hard ice cream. The menu covers all the classics—sundaes, banana splits, waffles, and waffle cones—making it the kind of place where everyone can find something they love.

We went on a warm Sunday night, and the place was packed with families enjoying themselves. There’s plenty of seating—some in front by the ice cream counter, more on the side of the building, and even a tent setup in the back where a separate food cart serves dinner items. Both the ice cream shop and the food cart were busy, which gave the whole place a lively, welcoming vibe.

I ordered a medium chocolate chocolate chip hot fudge sundae with sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry, while my girlfriend went with pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone with sprinkles. Both were delicious, and the price was very reasonable—just $13 total for the two of us.

No, it’s not the fanciest ice cream parlor, and it may not be the ā€œbestā€ ice cream I’ve ever had, but the charm is in the atmosphere. It feels like a homestyle, established neighborhood spot where families and couples have been coming for years—and will continue to for many more.

I’d absolutely recommend Causeway Ice Cream if you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable place to bring your kids, a date, or even your grandkids. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home.

Causeway is hands-down our favorite ice cream spot!
They offer an incredible variety of flavors and toppings, so there’s always something new to try. The convenience of the drive-thru is a huge plus, especially on hot days or when you’re in a hurry.

Today, I tried their special Dubai Sundae—and wow, it was unbelievably good! Rich, flavorful, and totally unique. If you’re an ice cream lover, this place is a must-visit.

(Used their social media photo as we ate it too quickly!)

Today I bought what I thought was homemade butter pecan 2 scoops in a sugar cone.what I received was vanilla ice cream with couple of whole pecans tossed in the cup with the sugar cone upside down in the container.
